Share Library Files from 1 PC to another to save Hard Drive Space or External Hard Drive
I have downloaded the library of Komplete 15 on my PC. I made a map with all these files which is shared and can be connected to with another device. My Macbook doesn't have enough space for this library, so I figured this is the way around.
Now I come across the issue that when I configure the file path to connect my Kontakt 8 or Native Acces, it doesn't really load in all of the sounds and plugins. It does it partly.
Can someone help me out how to configure this correctly, or is it simply better to have an external hard drive with the library on it?

Sorry, this is a little unclear to me: "I made a map with all these files which is shared and can be connected to with another device." Can you develop?
Macs and PCs do not have the same file systems. The ExFat format could theoritically work but it creates huge performanbce issues. Best would be to have dedicated installations for your libraries both for your PC and Mac. For Mac, the external hard drive should be formatted to APFS: Notes on Hard Drive Formats on Mac Computers

Yes especially if you use Logic. ExFat is big a no no and is well known to cause, as @Jeremy_NI says huge performance issues.

@Jeremy_NI My drive on my windows machine is formatted as NTFS. This drive is shared and accessible from my mac using the SMB protocol

Well, unfortunately that could be the source of the issue. Maybe give it a try with a small library, relocate it to your Macbook and see if the issue is resolved this way.

@Jeremy_NI Ok. I did try it with smaller libraries. Some work, but most miss a file.
Also, this is with Kontakt. But Battery 4 for example, has to go through Native Acces. Native Acces works worse by linking the path. You know any way around that? Could it be that it doesn't allow acces from all files the way I try to do things?
(My friend who is a IT networker set this up, I'm limited in my knowledge. But he's not certain either if there would be another way or if this is even possible. He says it should be, though.0 -
What kind of file is missinbg? Can you share a screenshot of the error message?

You should also try to rest Kontakt's database:
Reinitialize the Kontakt Database
- Hold down the alt key on your computer's keyboard and click Go in the Finder menu bar. Choose the appearing Library entry in the drop-down menu.
- Navigate to Application Support > Native Instruments.
- Depending on the Kontakt version you are using, delete the following folder:
Kontakt 5: "Kontakt 5"
Kontakt 6: "Kontakt"
Kontakt 7: "Kontakt 7"
Kontakt 8: "Kontakt 8" - Start Kontakt as a standalone application (not in your DAW).
