How do I stop constant Kontakt 8 pestering in Kontakt 7?

Every time I open K7 or maximise it in Ableton I get a message telling me about K8. I don't want K8 as I wasn't impressed with it and the player version shows me adverts all the time so I don't use it. I don't want it and should only have to say so once.

If you own the Full version of K7 - there is an option to turn off adverts under File-Options→Interface. Turn off the "new instruments for you" panel.
You should do this in standalone first as the plugin version does not have access to this panel.
If you are using K7 Player - no options there. If you want free - you have to accept the price of admission.

You're misunderstanding the problem. I was constantly getting a message telling me about Kontakt 8 every time I maximised Kontaky 7 which is the full version, I wasn't getting the adverts for other products. Though if I was it stinks considering how much I've spent on other items.

Well - this is the way to turn OFF the promo messages - all of them.

Fair enough.
A few folks have noted this - I saw this message just the once when I updated to 7.10.7 but I saw it in standalone. Have never seen it within Komplete Kontrol. I do not use Kontakt as an actual VST in my work.

From what Matt said in another thread it seems this message was meant to only appear once, evidently at least for some people it is appearing much more frequently, so that’s a bug rather than the planned behaviour. However to be honest I think it was a bad idea even if it had just popped up the once, people who want to buy K8 will do so in their own time, such a message is really not needed and the fact that this has now backfired is probably putting off more people than it ever would have nudged towards a purchase (and I’m not convinced it would have even done that).

Nudging is so irritating. Its why I won't use K8, why customers have to be pestered with adverts is beyond me when we've already spent a lot of money shows what they think of us.

And also know - if you are using Kontakt 8 Player - this is the price of admission for the free version. You will need the full version to turn this off permanently.

It's almost the end of Feb 2025 and this irritating bug still happens regardless of setting or unsetting the 'Enable new instruments for you' tickbox. Doesn't matter if you set/unset in standalone Kontakt7 or within a DAW (note I have a full licence and not the 'player'). NI - This is exactly the kind of behaviour that would make me as a customer NEVER buy Kontakt 8. Please treat your customers with better respect.

If your OS is Windows then try following exercises :
Run the full kontakt 7 version standalone as an administrator then turn on adverts under File-Options→Interface. "new instruments for you"
Exit Kontakt
Run the full kontakt 7 version standalone as an administrator then turn off adverts under File-Options→Interface. "new instruments for you"
if that doesn't help in your DAW then try the same exercises using the DAW
Run the DAW as an administrator then open Kontakt plugin and turn on adverts under File-Options→Interface. "new instruments for you"
Exit DAW
Run the DAW as an administrator then open Kontakt plugin and turn off adverts under File-Options→Interface. "new instruments for you"
This exercise when running apps as an Administrator has actually helped at least one user previously. Of course no guarantee that it will help you but worth a try at least..
If using Mac then also be aware of the the n.I. requirements :
ALL NI apps including NTKDaemon must have full disk access. : How to Enable Full Disk Access on mac OS and disks must be of correct format : Notes on Network Drives and Disk Formats

That's not true - this message should show once, and then never again, to all users. Clearly some sort of edge case is preventing Kontakt from writing the "not show again" flag. I wonder - have you enabled full disk access?

Please treat your customers with better respect.
This is clearly a bug - and not a normal operating procedure.
My advice would be to submit a support ticket and let the team handle it from there.

This looks like a Windows system, are you running Kontakt and your DAW as admin? How to Run a Program as an Administrator

For what it is worth then (as I suggested in the above) then it appear as if at least sometimes the problem with pop-ups and turning them off is that people have to run the app as an Administrator to get it to stick.
