I am using Windows 11 pro and can't get Kontakt 8 to open in stand alone mode.

Opens as VST in Ableton and Studio 1. Have reinstalled it several times to no avail.

Ended up installing Kontak 5 from a disk and for some reason 8 started to open. I'm not a computer wizard but if it works, just leave it alone. Thanks for the many suggestions.

    Hello,

does it just not open or do you get some info, have you tried to go into the install\program folder and start the exe right from there and with right click - open as administrator, you can of course try that first just with the desktop shortcut.

Have tried opening as admin, checked all boxes under program security, uninstalled/ reinstalled. Thinking total control and kontakt 8 can not coexist as they used to with Windows 10.

You could maybe also check windows event viewer and there the applications and security stuff. You can start it with right click on the windows sign/start button in the windows tab, then select event viewer.

First place to start is examine the listing of the library in Native Access to see if it's reporting any problems with the installation that you need to correct. While there select the library and click on … Maintenance on the left panel and select the Repair Installed Products and see what happens.

Please first check system files and access.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

Allow an app to access controlled folders

block third-party app installations in Windows 11/10 (for how to unblock)

Could also be a problem with your Visual C++ installations that could need cleaning up and/or re-installation , or a problem with display driver. But like Uwe303 already suggested then check the Windows Event Viewer, there ought to be a log for the Kontakt app crash , see here for how to use Event Viewer. To access Event Viewer select the keyboard shortcut Win+R, type eventvwr.msc and press the ENTER key.

total control and kontakt 8 can not coexist as they used to with Windows 10

If you are referring to the Komplete Kontrol app then that ought not pose any problem as Komplete Kontrol and Kontakt are made to be able to coexist.

Thank you for all the input, found my easiest solution is going back to Windows 10

Or maybe a fresh windows 11 installation, I know it's annoying, I had to do it not long ago but then everything works fine and fast. In my case my installation was from win 10 beta to 11 so many years old and just updated/upgraded over the years. You could also try to create another user that also has helped in some cases in the past on windows systems
