What I want to see in a new Maschine+ II "pro"

I keep coming back to this one as still I wait…

a list of features i would like to see in a new version of Maschine+ II pro to make it really standalone.

more processing power - a big plus would be upgradable memory, storage, and processor. the world does not need any more obsolete hazardous tech product waste in the landfills.
the ability to run third party plug-ins like from waves and other NKS ones. this is a big one in porting projects over for standalone and would likely require more processing power, see item 1.
dante connection. add a simple dante port. this would enable multiple i/os for routing to a dante capable sound card, waves or other effect processor, or even back to a mac or pc via one simple cable that does not take much space on the back of the maschine+ unit. ethernet cables can be very long indeed. optionally one could use a breakout cable to a NI multiport sound card unit, though these tend to be larger than a simple ethernet port.
Network connection: to just have one ethernet port, this could be a soft or hard switch option for the dante port. this would enable transferring files to the internal or external sd card or drives directly to the device. if could also facilitate future online collaboration of projects and even live performance.
real analogue effects and drums. Come on here, you have the shell, now add some magic to it. at least add the capacity to create a few analogue drums and a 2/4 pole filter via true analogue circuitry. creating on the fly is often faster than trying to find a pre-made sample from an overbearing collection and gives way to more "happy accidents".
add a reaktor engine via a dedicated processor
raise the price on a "pro" model that has all this in it, as to put the analogue circuit in will defineately increase the price.. this price is offset in a studio when compared with adding separate devices for these functions… what is the point of standalone if you still have to use it in controller mode to use third party plug-ins or i/o bus routing.
make the product in the EU and not with underpaid overworked semi-exploited labor in north asian tech sweatshops. raise the price if you have to.

I havent tested this myself, but there is nothing stoping you from using a Dante AVIO usb on Maschine+ to get the Dante input/outputs. Dante AVIO is core audio compatible and in theory should work on the Maschine+

and No. 4: you can definitely hookup a Cat5 USB adaptor to Maschine+, so you can hard wire instead of using Wireless, says so in the manual.

Me personally, and i hope many other users too, wouldnt like to see from NI anything related to something like 'M+ 2 pro' until all glaring bugs of current generation M+ got fixed.

i don't think you can just hook up dante to maschine, as dante needs to either, as you said, be "compliant" in some way to dante in the maschine+ device itself. dante requires a license per device and i had to "purchase" that and install the app on my mac, though that extra did come free with my focusrite red sound card, and it works great with that…. so NI would have to license that from Audinate in some way… it would unlock using maschine+ with a waves server which would add quite a few third party plug-ins to it… or NI could create it's own plug-in server via usb ethernet and add third party plugs and more processing power that way… having virtual sound card capacity would also permit using an ipad with it as well.

i was aware of the net option and the issues with finding a usb device that works with that, i should have made it more clear that it could be an option for the port if you could not work for both network and audio/dante, though it should… it would be better to simply put a locking ethernet port in over a fragile iffy usb port with possible cable length restrictions - this would also leave your usb port free for other uses

Running third party plugins? So you'd like this device to run either Windows or MacOS, because those are the systems required by the vast majority of plugins.

There are a tiny number written to run on Linux, but that's desktop Linux, not an embedded system.

nah, no need for a hardware update of maschine +. Just optimize it. Do some feature requests and fixes. Create some synths for it. Sell presets. Done. Chip is more powerfull than the mpc hardware.

Or just a complete new type of groovebox. That, i do support.

I personally like the idea of audio expansion via USB. I'm currently hoping they can get it working with my Motu so I can use AVB. I'd be willing to switch to dante if it works.

I'd rather NOT have it built into the device because I won't be able to update it later.

IMO, this is similar to having something like RTP Midi (or whatever apple calls theirs). Building it into the device would be fine; but if something newer comes along then I'll want to switch to it. I'd rather not pay to have it built into maschine.

There was someone complaining about the lack of inputs when it first released. "It's a stand alone device! I shouldn't need an interface if using it as standalone!" Yeah bro. You wouldn't. You also wouldn't need 8 stereo inputs if using it as stand alone. You're using it with other stuff; so bringing your own interface makes sense.

Give me a box with 6 stereo ins. That's fine, but I need 8 and want 16. lol. I'd rather have it on an external device and not in the back of the groovebox. USB would be best; but even some sort of proprietary solution would be good enough. Stuff like AVB/Dante is even better.

I couldn't care less about the other stuff in the OP; but if NI could do AVB or dante (or something similar) and offer komplete audio interfaces? I'd go all in. That's the "holy grail" type of setup for me. lol. 64 bidirectional stereo channels over a single ethernet cable? Yes please.

Man, I once tried to get a DIY audio network setup going between my dekstop & laptop. (both windows) I tried ASIOlink (or whatever it's called) and some configuration of JACK. It very nearly worked, but there was either a ton of glitching in the audio stream, too much latency, or both.

1.) Dante AVIO (USB version) provides 2in/2out Dante over USB, Maschine+ should recognize it as a regular audio device since it is core audio compatible), no Dante licensing needed, thats what the AVIO is for, it has the Dante Ethernet jack on it.

2.) you can add USB hubs to Maschine+ to expand its USB ports, I personally have had a TON of USB devices hooked up while in standalone. 1 SSD Drive, 1 Audio interface, Ethernet adaptor, 2 MIDI to USB adaptors, 2 MIDI/USB instruments, all worked like a charm. not "elegant", but it's the same as a laptop.

The current M+ is not even in the same version as a desktop version for like a year… What makes you think NI can afford to R&D and maintain yet another product when the current one is crying in a corner for lack of attention? It would only make what already is a major problem even worst…

Optimism is commendable but this is nuts to me.

Nothing wrong with M+ hardware. Not hoping for new hardware, only software side updates.

BTW Maschine+ feels like console game which was made too long - still have potential but need tweaks and real development. Not updates which feels like side project...
