When rebuilding the entire Komplete Kontrol database, I noticed a significant slowdown caused by Windows Defender antivirus. Disabling the antivirus speeds up the process a lot. I noticed this recently, though I'm not sure if this has been like this in the past.

If you're rebuilding the database, consider temporarily disabling Windows Defender real time protection to save time.

    You should always use Exclusions in your Anti Virus software for any sort of app / vst that uses a database. ;)
