Behringer X-Touch
Hi everybody, I just loaded the demo version of Traktor Pro and I really like it. I'm planning to use the software basically like an mp3 player. I need to control Traktor with a Behringer X-Touch control surface but I don't know how to configure Traktor to work with the X-Touch.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi Zephry, thank you for your answer. While I was waiting for suggestions, I eventually find out by myself how to map the X Touch. Exactly as you say, it's not really configurable but some basic functions work. First of all, I set the in port to X-Touch. All buttons are assignable with no effort, you just select learn and the function you want the button to operate. The problems comes with the motorized faders, they behave strangely. My goal was to have the main volume fader working on the selected deck. I eventually obtained an half result. I had to set the control type to "encoder", set the sensitivity to 200%, acceleration to 25% and "invert". Now the fader is working BUT the volume goes down perfectly sliding the fader down but it comes back to 100% immediately sliding the fader up a millimeter. Also, no lights or indications appear on the X Touch, all black.
I'm going to make some more trials as soon as I have some time, I'm coming back and report if I find something new.
Thanks again and regards
Paolo

I see there are a few different models of the X Touch. My guess is that the motorized one probably can't be configured (mapped) for Traktor. But the more simple models might be midi mappable and used for the basic controls you want.
But this means you will need to learn mapping. Which isn't terribly hard for simple functions. But can't really be explained well over a forum.
The easiest way to learn basic mapping is by testing basic controls with the keyboard mapping already supplied by Traktor. I'm not sure if mapping is able to be done in the demo though?
I would suggest buying the Traktor S3 though. You should be able to find a used one for a good price.

For faders, set Fader-Direct on the input commands.
Then add the same output commands and assign to the same fader CC - that will activate the motor.

Listen to this dude! Definitely knows his stuff! Thank Steven!

Of course I will! As soon as I'm back home this evening I'm going to follow his instruction, will report!
Thank you to you all guys!

Mapping motors is basically the same as mapping the RIng indicator on MF Twister or an LED touch strips such as maschine Jam. Traktor can definitely support that feature.

So, it partially works. I move the fader and the volume slide on screen properly follows the movements but as soon as I leave the fader untouched for a few seconds it returns to zero by itself. This behavior is the same both if I create a mirror out command or only the in one. The volume in Traktor does not change, it stays at the exact level I set it with the fader. All this just to give you a feedback, I’m testing Traktor basically as an advanced mp3 player for my backing tracks while I’m playing my guitar so also if it’s not really perfect it’s fine for my purposes.
Thanks a lot again!0 -
The fader should not reset to 0 automatically unless it is faulty or if it has that default setting on a hardware side - is there a MIDI editor app available where you can tweak hardware settings?
If you still need help then post some screenshots of the controller manager to check for any mapping issues.1 -
I frankly don't think it's faulty for two reasons: first of all, everything works properly with Cubase, Wavelab, Spectralayers and Logic. Second, the behavior is the same for all the faders.
About the midi editor, I don't think there's one available, Behringer documentation is very poor. X-Touch works emulating a Mackie control surface, the only hardware setting you can change is the protocol type (HUE or MC).
I'm sending you asap a screenshot of the control manager.
Thanks a lot!
