Hi, As a professional Dj since 1999 (only income is Dj'ing) Started Dj'ing early 90's.
Please can you do a software update for the S4 MK3.
I find it quite hard to get my head around why you mapped the S4 so on each stem volume/filter adjustment you need 2 hands to preform a single task, as to adjust the EQ only one hand so the other hand is free to adjust volumes/eq/crossfader, or move the jog wheels to tighten top the mix, during in the mix eg. deck A to deck B. So its just over complicated things?
Please can you just do this simple software update:
- Send each stem to the FX knob at the top of the mixer (it will know weather its eg. A or C as will be the one you have selected by the jog wheel).
- The Strem/Fx knob is always LIVE, like the EQ knobs so you only need one hand now.
- The FX knob light below each FX/Stem knob, If the light is off the knob will only work that stem volume, if the light is on it uses the Filter on the FX/Stem knob.
- In the S4 0r Traktor Preferences have a "tick-box" "Sent Srems To FX" so when ticked it sends stems to FX, & this is saved when closing Trackor down like any changes (opens how you left it).
You will always need JOG wheels to be a fully versatile controller, as we all know if you heavily add or take away eg. Bass Eq you need the jog wheels to push the track forward a bit now to sound perfectly in time (sync will not do this as it looks lined up on the screen, but to your ear its almighty out of time / same with off-beats etc. - Why we still needs Jog wheels especially if you have to play older not in time music / quicker to adjust by ear/jog when then completely re-mapping/grid of a 3-4 min track & smoother).
You still need 4 decks as if one "locks" in error so you can't load another track (this still does happen), or mainly use 2 main playing decks & the other for tricks, the remaining deck for mic or eg. Saxophone input.
Kill switches went out with Hard-House… but still a very handy tool so might be with leaving the 4 pads below the Jog wheel, as Kill each stem on/off, before it sends to FX/Stem knob?
Thing thing I have learned about using Stems is you still need to use the EQ on the same track to reduce any sharp bits (turn it down & you muffle it a bit otherwise when the stem volume increase to normal slowly it can sound harsh / EQ gets rid of it-what we all did before stems).
Above is just a simple fix to get the most out of Traktor Stems & S4 MK3, as currently its usability (both hands needed), stops you bering creative as the other hand is needed to adjust another slider/knob etc.
I have spent well over 2 weeks trying to map the S4 MK3 to do this, but it won't & the "quick fix" on YouTube dissent work & still holds the Dj back from "full one hand control per deck".
Me think if you do the above & a marketing video on what the re-map does it will be flying off the self, as a "one stop" shop controller for all Dj's & music genres old & new.
Please do the update,
Darren
