I can't add a second instrument to Kontakt 7
I've tried the instructions: click below my first instrument, back to Library, select my second instrument — it just replaces the first. Likewise with dragging/dropping.
I've also tried File | Options | Loading: uncheck '… replaces currently selected instrument."
I've also tried File | Options | Handling | Midi Channel Assignment now set to "next available".
No matter what I do, any additional instrument I try to load just replaces my one existing instrument.
(I have the full version.)
Thanks!
UPDATE: So, I'm upgrading to Kontakt 8. I need to keep Kontakt up to date anyway. The only feature I'm looking for is the ability to add a second instrument to an instance. :-)
HELLS BELLS: I'm having the same problem with Kontakt 8. Why is this so hard?

Ha, figured it out. SampleModeling has a solo strings library. Loading up more than one solo string in an instance works fine. But the way their chamber strings library works is that they load up several instruments of (for example) solo violin 1 in one instance to create a chamber violin 1 section/instance. All set to OMNI. So of course they cannot permit another instance to be loaded. There must be a flag they can set.

Hello,
in full view (the old view with the instruments on the left side) you can open several instruments from there. If you need I can make some pics if I'm back at my music PC.

Just tried it - works fine.
But I needed to "shrink" the first instrument I loaded by clicking the tiny "-" button (so it appears as a long thin strip across the Load area)
Then I just dragged another one in. And another.

Still not working. Next step, I think, is to reinstall everything related.

Clicking the minimize '-' made no difference. I've even tried Kontakt 5 and I'm getting the same behavior. I feel like I'm missing something really simple here.

Specifically, I've been trying to load more than one instance of SampleModeling chamber strings into the same instance. (As in: one for Vln1, one for Vln2, and Vla, Vcl and DB). When I try to do this with another library (like Spitfire Solo Strings) it works. Just not SampleModeling. So it's looking like this is library specific.

A solution is to have a separate Kontakt instance for each instrument.
