Dragging WAV audio out of a clip?

Is there any way to drag audio out of a clip as a bounced wav the same way you can do it out of a pattern? Id love to use clips more but not being able to simply pull audio out to another daw is very limiting… Am i just missing something? Thanks in advance!

Yes there is, you simply have to drag and drop the audio:

Thats what i mean tho — as far as i can tell that only works on Patterns? Here's a video showing what happens when i either convert a pattern to a clip or make a new clip: The option goes away.

If you highlight (just click) the Scene instead of the Clip you can do it, even tho when you do this you don't see the Clip MIDI and instead just see the Pattern below it — Yes, it's very counter intuitive visually but it works. The Clip needs to be inside the boundaries of a Scene tho.

If your Clip spans across multiple sections then you have to consider other options such as enabling Loop and set loop braces, or select multiple Scenes and/or use the export menu.

Clips are sort of an unfinished rushed feature and has this sort of issues… 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the follow up - it seems that only works if there's still a 'pattern' in the scene underneath the clip and will only export the pattern data, not the clip? If the scene has no pattern, the button to render the clip still wont be there..

Oh i stand corrected… it does actually export the clip audio if theres an empty pattern… Ok i guess thats something but still a bit of a pain since if i had a clip that crossed multiple scenes (which i thought was the point of clips) then there would be no way to output that clip short of exporting each scene that it overlaps (bringing all the other pattern data with it) and re-combining them into a single wav file. Holding out hope that theres still something im missing tho. Thanks for the help yall.

I just saw this part of your reply too — yeah thats what i thought - only way to really 'export' a clip is to straight up render/export it between loop points… which is a bummer when the drag option is so nice on patterns.

I donno i feel like clips are great honestly, they drastically speed up song arrangement when youre working in the maschine software… dragging around clips / making duplicates of them / etc without worry about having everythign lining up to scenes is actually very organic and natural feeling imo! but yeah its a pain once you have the clip and you want to pull it out to something else.

Oh, there needs to be a Pattern underneath the Clip, even if it's an empty one.

To be honest I would not go using Clips at all, unless you really need it's unique properties VS a regular Pattern.

hahah yeah i love clips tbh for everything except this one thing lol having a "buildup" or multiple vocal tracks that cross multiple scenes becomes very quick and intuitive to work with.

Oh, for that kind of thing Clips is really the best way to go usually.

I guess you can also just do what i said earlier, File>Export.

Not as fast and practical as drag-and-drop but works, and gives you more control of where you exports files end up…

Yeah appreciate the info for sure — just annoying in context cuz it literally means having to pull a clip OUT of the song entirely to export it on its own / without everything else in the background. and then place it back into the song at the correct timing. Or i guess just mute the other stuff. Anyway haha i guess the answer is no 😊

I donno if @Jeremy_NI is still looking at the thread but having the same options of draggable audio/midi export on clips would be quite awesome.

It's 20:25 in Germany right now so hes probably having dinner. :D

Would be nice to have, as would be to Split and Merge clips, or stop them from splitting when a new Scene is created, I cant imagine any vocalists I every worked with having the patience to deal with recording punch-ins in Maschine… Replacing a bad word sounds like hell tbh 🤣

Ah yeah good call the auto splitting is annoying so having some way to merge them (or just not split them) would be rad.

Yeah i dont think i could record another vocalist in maschine but i definitely record myself, and i love dragging in vocal stems from another daw after the fact to further polish the beat around the vox better, etc.
