Bugs that bother me for years now

Dear Community,
with a new version of the maschine software on the horizon: lets take a look at some of the annoyances with Maschine that i hope get fixed finally.
Furthermore it is about time that the numerous bugs that bothered me for years will finally be fixed. While they are not solely Maschine Bugs, I do only encouter them when using Maschine (Standalone, Windows 11).


Feel free to add your own annoyances and bugs, so that we have something to look out for when exploring the software and the team has something to reference in case they ever want to take the community serious.

Bugs:

  • Super 8 sporadically detunes when loading an old project
  • Maschine sporadically crashes when loading Valhalla DSP plugins
  • When editing a sound, rightclicking the waveform->Find in Explorer does do nothing

Annoyances:

  • In Library Browser, when browsing installed Groups (i.e. the dropdown is openend and installed items are shown) clicking on instruments/sounds/any other category the dropdown closes and you need to click AGAIN to go to the category.
  • Still no proper automation (only single points, no curves or linear ascend/descend)
  • In Pattern Editor: When two notes "touch", it is sometimes impossible to drag the end of a note (even if it is selected) and instead the beginning of the next note will be changed
  • Drag-and-Dropping a recorded take on the recording page to a new sound Slot in a Group removes the
  • Exporting Multitracks (e.g. for mastering or mixing in a different software) will only start the file when the sound is active. this makes it necessary to align each track individually.
  • Maschine Controller: Changing from Chords Mode back to Piano Mode sets the scale to W-H, ignoring what was selected before
  • Saving a Group and does not save the Input/Output configuration
  • The Plugin Selection Popup should be in front of any plugin windows, otherwise its not useable
  • Let me activate count-in also when not using the Maschine Controller

Thats all i can recall from the back of my head..

If anyone knows any fixes or workarounds, please let me know.

    Saving a Group and does not save the Input/Output configuration

    It is saved, but you need to activate +Routing when loading the Group.

    Most probably a problem of Super 8 not correctly reading the parameters saved from a previous version. Did you file a bug report for Super 8?

    Maschine sporadically crashes when loading Valhalla DSP plugins

    Most probably a problem of Valhalla DSP plugins. Did you contact them?

    When editing a sound, rightclicking the waveform->Find in Explorer does do nothing

    Do you have any special characters or spaces in the paths to your samples?

    Only reason i use maschine software is for the expansions and effects in my daw.. routing have been a killer for years!

    Yes I did file a bugreport but they couldn't reproduce it, also not for the instances where it happened with a Kontakt Library instead. But it seems that it does not happen as regularly or at all anymore. I do stumble over some weird tuned projects every now and then, but damage is already done.

    With the Valhalla Plugins it started after some Maschine software update and did not happen before. I remember firing up valhalla plugins in the VST 3 Plugin Checker from the Steinberg SDK and they ticket all the boxes (everything according to the standardization).

    Special Characters? Probably some folders, but in 99% the cases there are no special characters.
    Spaces? For sure, its 2024.
    There is a way to get the file path though: theres a magnifier symbol top right of the sampler which locates the file in the browserwhere you can right click and choose "find in file explorer", which actually works (or sometimes opens the folder at least)..

    Note selection, export length and lack of proper automation are what is most annoying though because they require pretty time consuming workarounds. However we got automation, which was quite the wait and I still love the fact we got them.

    I mean I do love maschine and I barely touch ableton since I bought the MK3, but some quality of life improvements would be so welcome to make it better in standalone! → Imagine you could pin plugins and could have e.g. Equalizer VST from Sound E.12 on your screen along with an EQ on Group B, which could be so helpful for mixing.

    There's just so much more potential.
