Mac Sequoia compatability

It's been a while since Sept 11 NA statement and even before that I assume testing was done with NA and Mac Sequoia. Maybe you need to hire more testers which will also help improve your Quality. However, I think at the very least, NA should give us a better indication of when they will be done testing, I mean, it's been about 6 weeks. We are all anxious to update but have NO clue about when you'll be done testing. In addition, I would love for this communication to your loyal users who have spent lots of money on your products regularly done via email so that we don't have to keep on looking. Same goes for other vendors. 🤔

    6 weeks is nothing.

I upgraded to Sequoia by mistake (don't ask) but I had expected to remain on Sonoma for a good 6 months to allow the various companies software I use, to get fully certified.

    I have Komplete 14 CE

    Kontakt 8

    S88 mk3

So far everything seems to be running OK, my only problems relate to using Steinberg products and Native instruments together, and most of the time these problems are minor such as an error message when exiting the program

Arturia are no different, to quote their site

As with all significant operating system releases, we strongly recommend you do not upgrade to macOS Sequoiajust yet.

We are currently working hard to ensure compatibility for all Arturia software titles - this includes individual instruments, effects, and utilities - but until the final release is available, we cannot be certain it is stable.

We appreciate your patience in not upgrading just yet, and hope you understand the need for caution, especially if you are using any Arturia software titles in a live setting.

If Somoma was any indicator - it will be several months before Sequoia will be fully certified.

For what it's worth, all NI plugins have been working fine since I upgraded my MacBook to Sequoia. The same goes for Arturia, Ableton, Maschine,…. As a matter of fact, not a single app or plugin from any manufacturer has been giving me grief since the OS upgrade. Obviously, that's just my experience. Other people, other configurations, potentially other problems.

OK, sound promising… I know all other vendosr are more of less srecommending the same… Including my steinberg and my DAW ( Cubase 13 PRO ) and most of my plugins are for UA so I'm checking those sites too…

What is the major problem with Steinberg and NA if I may ask ?

I would guess huge product catalogs to test for sure and I would think in NIs case - higher priorities.

NI has a lot of more important things to do right now with their releases of Traktor4, Kontakt 8, Komplete 15 and Maschine 3 waiting in the wings.

It's really not their fault that Apple decides to redo their OS every year.

That said - lots of users in here are reporting the all clear on Sequoia so YMMV.

So if the major O/s updates every year, and you know roughly when this update comes out, and you can get developers early copies of this update, it makes logical sense to me that you should be aiming to have all of your software updated when the new OS comes out…

Tons of reasons why many vendors take time. The biggest one being the OS is not final when development versions are issued.

Apple can change things whenever they feel like it - before the actual “real” version arrives.

Given how long this testing window has become in the last few years it feels like some vendors now simply do not bother wasting testing time on any of these pre- releases knowing full well it’s not final.

All Mac users should be used to this dance after years of it going on.

It would be dumb to treat beta releases as if they are final. A lot can change during beta cycles, so I can understand companies wanting to wait and see till after the final version is released.

Anybody have any inside scoop on how soon NI will likely declare Sequoia "safe"??

apple (very unfortunately — and without my request or permission — and I kid you not) "auto-upgraded" my studio computer when I did a 'migration' from my previous hardware.

So I am sitting right in the middle of it — just opening a project that CONTAINS a Kontakt instrument will often crash Cubase 14. I am dead in the water (since ALL my projects contain Kontakt instruments) until they fix whatever it is they have to fix)…

The key to knowing what is good - is here:

macOS 15 Sequoia Compatibility Statement – Native Instruments

If it is listed - it has been tested and is good to go.
