For the different grid detection, have you tried different BPM ranges in the preferences for analysis? I tested the ranges on types of tracks a couple years ago and got quite a few different results. I think the Auto setting does an ok job for most 120 to 135 bpms. But other ranges below or above had better results when choosing a set range.
