FX post fader not working in Traktor with external DJ mixer

Hi There,

I am using Traktor Pro 4 with my DJM-750MK2.

The Preferences are set in External Mixing mode.

I am using two channels with USB input (Traktor) and two other channels receiving Line input from external devices (Synth and Maschine MK3).

I have also set my individual FX in Post Fader mode in Traktor.

However, when I use the effects in the X1 MK2, and lower the channel fader in my DJM, the FX is killed with the fader.

I would be grateful for some help.

Thanks

Technically want you want is impossibly.

Traktor does not know if the fader is up or down. And even if it did, if you turn the volume down on the external mixer no sound will come out. Even if traktor is running at full blast.

This way it should be impossible to get the Traktor effects Post Fader. Traktor has no way to feed the effected signal behind the fader in your DJM. Traktor adds the effect to your signal and that is routed via USB on Mixer channels 3/4 (for Deck A) or 5/6 (Deck B). If you set your fader to zero, it mutes that mixed signal.

Traktor can only feed the effect signal really post fader if mixing is done internal in Traktor software.

    Exactly.

But you can use the SEND setting for your FX Units and designate a separate channel of your mixer to receive the SEND signal from Traktor's FX Units (in Preferences). If that channel's line fader is up and your track's line fader is down, you will still hear the FX. Best turn Dry/Wet to 100% (max right). Too bad that 1. you can't attenuate the signal strength of the internal channel sent to the FX Unit this way and 2. you will have a slight reception delay.

Experiment a bit with the SEND signal to check what's possible.

Is it a MIDI mixer though, if it is then you can map the fader to apply effects when channel fader is anywhere between 0 and 99%. I'm doing this with my Xone 96.

    Got it.

Does that mean that post fader FX in Traktor will not work with any external DJ mixer?

If you want something like an echo out effect, instead of going down with the fader, pause the track.

That is a great idea. I'll try to see if I can map the fader.

    Thank you

My pleasure. In my mapping I'm using CUE 2 selector knob to select different effects as well so that may be something else you can try.

Can you elaborate and explain what you are accomplishing and how? Do you have a button to activate effects so you don't lose the ability to control the channel volume?

That is correct, My CUE C button is the overall fx activate button.

Faders are set to slow curve (so nothing happens to audio volume when you start lowering the fader volume from 100%) - you hear the effect first and then it starts to decrease the volume as you move the fader back to 0.

Therefor I have two type of delay effects, one is basic and second activates the echo freeze soon as it hit value 126 (99% position on up fader). Other than those I have reverb and low pass filter as a fader effects.
