Maschine pattern length within Ableton Live
Hi,
When using Maschine as a VST inside of Live's Session View the Maschine pattern can be set to any length regardless of clip length in Live. No matter if there's only a 1 bar drum loop playing in Live, the Maschine pattern will play for the length you've set it to before it loops.
But when you're in Live's Arrangement View and want to record a pattern in Maschine you're bound to the loop length and position in Live, let me explain. If a loop is set to 4 bars and it starts at the 5th bar of the arrangement you will need to set Maschine's pattern length to 8 bars and the pattern will then loop after 4 bars starting on the 5th bar, so Maschine will just ignore the first 4 bars of the pattern and will loop when Live does. Is there a way to bypass/disconnect this "link" somehow?
Thanks.

No, the Host (Live in Arrangement View) is in charge of a linear timeline, so it when it loops or changes position in any way Maschine will follow, regardless of whatever is going inside Maschine.
What I would do in that example would be to simply have 2 4-Bar Scenes in SONG mode next to head other, 1 for the 1st 4 bars and another for the other 4. Basically using linear workflow on both softwares.
Ideas View just like Session View is non-linear. IMO Its generally a bad ideia to mix Maschine's Ideas View with Live's arrangement view unless you're an advanced user, I'd go full Song Mode-Arrangement for each software respectfully so things can sync up better, with loop turned off in Maschine so basically you can build 2 matching linear timelines.
