edited October 2024 in Maschine

Context:

  • new Maschine Plus
  • new 1TB SanDisk SSD installed (pre-formatted using Maschine)
  • system is up-to-date
  • firmware is up-to-date
  • all Komplete Ultimate libraries installed, showing up and functioning through browser
  • autosampled "Mallet Flex" VST successfully with .wav/.mxsnd files saved to:
    • C:\Users\[name]\Documents\Native Instruments\Maschine 2\Sounds
  • Set Maschine Plus to "Controller Mode" → autosampled files located above → copied to the SD card via "Storage Mode" in directory:
    • H:\Native Instruments\Maschine 2\Sounds
  • Safely disconnect storage device and exit storage mode [back to Standalone]
  • Go to browser "Sounds" category, filter by User → nothing found
  • Go to browser "One-Shots" category, filter by User → nothing found
  • Shift → Rescan → nothing found
  • Re-initiate "Storage Mode" → check if files are there → yep → leave "Storage Mode"
  • Verified that Maschine 2 Library location is "Added"

I've spent a few hours running in circles at this last step. Based on what I've gathered from the manual and from watching guides, the files should be in the right place for them to be picked up on the scan. I've also tried creating a custom folder outside the base "Native Instruments" folder and adding it to the library path but it didn't work.

I do remember at some point having all the samples for one of my first autosample runs show up under my "One-Shots" category, but they weren't collected under a "Sound" and I wasn't happy with the result, so I waxed them and restarted the process. In hindsight, I should have been happy.

Came back to try again this morning and while I didn't figure out how to get the sound+samples transferred from the PC to the SD card to appear in the Maschine Plus browser, I did figure out how to sample directly on the Maschine in standalone mode using USB MIDI output to connect to Kontakt 7 through Ableton 12.

Not exactly sure why I wasn't able to get USB MIDI signal through using Standalone mode yesterday, only controller mode was picking it up. Only thing that changed was I restarted the Maschine unit (lo and behold, the ole turn it off and back on again).

What wound up allowing me to send USB MIDI to my PC while in Standalone mode was setting the "Channel Output" MIDI destination (page 3 of "Sound" tab) to "USB MAS+ /USB MAS+ (Output)"… and also I assume restarting the Maschine, for reasons beyond my scope of comprehension.

    In conclusion: yay.

Did you re-scan the user library after switching from Storage Mode back to Standalone Mode? Did you wait until the scan indicator stopped spinning?
