Traktor Z1 only usb?

I was in Slovakia last week to play a rave somewhere in the mountains. I brought my S4mk2, and it worked great. My friend used a Z1 mixer and a laptop only. I was impressed by the minimalistic setup. I already have an X1, and having a Z1 next to it seemed a lot less clunky than packing my S4 in a big suitcase and pay for extra luggage so I just bought a Z1.

However I noticed that he had an input for a power adapter next to the rca main out on his z1. On the one I ordered there is only USB. What am I missing? Should I worry? When did NI change this? Is the one I ordered some sort of mk2 or something?

His Z1 was working fine with my laptop also and he did not use a power adapter, just a usb cable.

    Not really a Mk2. But NI made a silent revision of Z1. These revision misses the connector for power supply and doesn‘t support Traktor DJ on iPadOS anymore. While connected to a PC or Mac there is no real difference in using both revisions.

    The power supply was needed to charge the iPad over Z1 as an iPad only has one connector. There was no way to connect a charger and Z1 to an iPad at the same time.

    You either need an USB-C to USB-A adapter and use it with the cable delivered with Z1 or an USB-C to USB-B cable.

    USB-A is the connector you usually find on computers and notebooks.

    USB-B is the connector you usually find on external hardware like printers or Kontrol Z1, Kontrol X1, Kontrol F1.

    ok! Thank you for explaining to me! I don’t own an iPad so I shouldn’t worry abt this then:)

    However I have an M1, the first one that came with only 2 usb C connections. I guess I need a usb-a to usb-c cable ?
