Can I run my NI Collector's Edition & S88 MK3 on my Windows 10PC with low enough latency?
And the BIG QUESTION is will it be fast enough to get low enough latency to play the sound library instruments as a musician needs?
Specs on my current PC
i9-10900K CPU @ 3.70GHz
64GB Ram (Not sure of the type or speed)
Internal SSD for OS and Internal SSD Drives for Data. I also have a new external 4TB SSD Sandisk Extreme Drive (For NI Sound Libraries Libraries) And a few other Snadosk Drives with 1 or 2TB each.
I do have usb3 ports, usb3.1, and usb 3.2 ports with two thunderbolt 3 ports.
I have one thunderbolt hub from Belkin.
INTERFACE
I own an RME UFX!!! interface.
PROGRAMS
I run Cubase Pro newest Version
BIAB
Also have the East/West Sound Library
And the Full Monthly Waves Effects Package
Thank you for your advice.

I had an i5-10600K up to Jan 2024 and was using my trusty RME UCX-II and latency was 3ms. Can’t really get faster than that.
You should be fine.

Awesome! Thank you. Maybe I don't need to buy a new computer after all. Perhaps I am not running the PC at optimal setup. Some people tell me Me Norton, which I have run on my PC's for ever slows the performance. But since I never have ram or cpu issues, I figured that was just prople not supporting Norton. However, recentl research makes me think it could be slowing down my latency. And that is the big problem I had in the past. Why I sold my NI setup twice in the past. This time I don't want to give up on it!
Everything else works great still.

I had a 13 year old i7 with 64GB DDR3 RAM, I doubt it’s as fast as the RAM you have with your i9. Had an old Focusrite Saphire Pro FireWire interface.
I ran studio one DAW, NI Komplete 14 CE, Arturia V collection, Omnisphere, NI S88 mk3, Arturia Keylab 61 mk2 and also NI Maschine mk3.
I had very little problems with latency, I had a problem with it taking ages to preview some of the biggest loops I had in Studio One, but those files were big and I suspect with the age of my motherboard etc, that was never going away.
Apart from that, it ran totally fine most of the time for me, although I didn’t have 100s of tracks on my DAW.There were a few patches here and there, not many, but a few where due to the patch make up, my system simply couldn’t handle it. I either never played those patches or I had to set my buffer so high that the latency was awful. One that springs to mind is Arturia’s Analog Lab patch “Astral Voices”, but I’ve come across the odd one here and there on NI stuff too. The odd one from collectors edition isn’t that many though.
But for 99% of things I used it for, my system, while starting to show its age, coped very well.0 -
Gentle suggestion to get rid of Norton ASAP.
If you do need malware/AV protection on the DAW - simply use Win Defender. Nothing more is needed.
Your machine will thank you.VP

I'm also on Windows 10 and run a VERY wide range of instruments from NI and other third party vendors with no latency problems on my 16MB Asus desktop that's about 6 or 7 years old, but I will absolutely second @Vocalpoint's view of getting rid of Norton. I just use Windows Defender and even turn off it's real time virus and protection settings when I'm actively working with Ableton in the studio just to speed loading things up as I'm not doing anything on the internet and I've had no problems at all.
On another note, like you have I have multiple internal and external SSD's. I'd suggest you get a good idea of your storage strategy of where you want to keep your libraries because it can be a problem if you have large libraries competing with normal operating system functions on your main Windows drive. I keep some smaller things there but all my larger stuff is on two different 1TB and larger SSD's which simplifies backup and also makes loading them more efficient.
