Kontakt and GarageBand

Trying to use the beautiful Kontakt Player! But an installation problem occurred. My DAW is GarageBand 10.4.11, running on iMac Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2019.
PROCESSOR: 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i3
GRAPHICS: Radeon Pro 555X 2 GB MEMORY: 8GB 2400MHzDDR4
STARTUP DISK: Macintosh HD
MACOS: Sonoma 14.5.

Here's the issue: I followed installation steps, via Native Access. When I tried to access the Kontakt Player plugin thru my DAW, I got an error message (2 of them, in fact—one after the other. The first one said, "Use of this requested Audio Unit(s) requires lowering the security settings for "GarageBand". Are you sure you want to proceed?" Gave me the choice to click on 'Lower Security Settings', or 'Cancel'. I clicked 'Cancel', and this popped up: "Audio Unit plug-in can't be used. The Audio Unit Kontakt could not be loaded for your project, and may need to be updated. Contact the manufacturer for an updated version or further assistance." I have downloaded both Kontakt 7 and Kontakt 6. Still the same failure notice when I try to access them through my DAW.

Please advise.

Well, you would have needed to lower the security so GarageBand and your Mac don't see the plug-ins to be malware. It's outlined here: How to Insert Native Instruments Plug-ins in GarageBand

1. If you get a warning message, press the Lower Security Settings button to proceed.
   
   

You might need to reset Garageband to default:

Reset GarageBand preferences


Resetting preferences doesn't affect your project files, presets, or patches. However, you do lose any custom preference settings you might have made.

1. Choose GarageBand > Preferences, and note any specific preference settings you've made.
2. Close GarageBand.
3. In the Finder, choose Utilities from the Go menu.
4. Open Terminal.
5. Copy this command, paste it into Terminal, then press Return:defaults delete com.apple.garageband10
6. If you have ever updated from a previous version of GarageBand, also copy this command, paste it into Terminal, then press Return:defaults delete com.apple.garageband
7. Restart your computer.

First of all, thank you all so much. The gorgeous instruments and player are on my DAW and seem to work beautifully!

Kontakt (regardless of version) doesn't provide any audio drivers. It depends solely on the audio drivers you have loaded on your computer. It could very well be one that was installed with Garage Band. I'd try lowering the security settings because many libraries won't work with old style audio drivers. Once you get into Kontakt you can change the audio driver to a different, more modern one through preferences that's more efficientant doesn't have a problem supporting Kontakt.
