hi,

Got this controller while i was waiting a replacement of my 1st controller ever (S2 mk3) from NI and it's looks pretty cool! Here's side to side with the S2 mk3 refurbished tested unit NI just sent.

From little i tested: built-in sound is much better than the S2 mk3 (i use that controller with a separate audio interface) Also build materials seems better (not that much) It's got smaller jog wheels, more clickier pads and also gain/trim knobs doesn't have little dots on the board (why?!)

It comes ready as hardware unlock for rekordbox and serato. So, since i was doing the warranty thing with NI decide to try for the first time those softwares.

Rekordbox was ok but pretty soon i found out that FX is different of traktor. Not all classic FX are post fader and that seemed crazy to me coming from using traktor with hardware mixers, turntables and such.

So ok, let's try serato…which just putted FX customization behind paid subscription (like 2 weeks ago ☺)

Trying all these new software only did make me miss traktor FX more haha.

Anyone tried that mapping is being sold? i just don't know if i should sell everything and get an S4?

Thanks,
Nicolás

    Made those mappings myself^

If you have questions let me know. Otherwise yes, just get an S4 (if you need more channels that is)

    Thank you Stevan!

How do you find the FLX4? if i may ask

Do you use it? with external sound interface? what do you think of onboard sound? i have a beringher u-phoria 192hd which is 24-bit and im still deciding if i gonna use it with the flx4 like i do with the s2 mk3.

Did you ever used rekordbox? i've found that FX will bug sometimes like regular filter will kept on when enabling CFX. asked support and they told me to go back to RB 6 (which i haven't, went back to tracktor as my replacement NI board came back.

Audio interface could be better, but it is not bad. When I use it I just output audio from my macbookheadpone jack and not the FLX4 - external headphones are better optimized than FLX core audio driver.

I don't like RB and Serato because their mapping interface is not even basic functionality fully supported.

yeah i felt that it was better than the on board s2 mk3 sound, but not enough to match the external audio interface.

About the differences in FX implementation it baffles me that firing fx in the s2 mk3 is very restricted if not using pads but at the same time so easy and fun to use! .That until the fx wheels brakes ☻

Maybe in not thinking this right and just have to get a X1 (?) for adding extra fx. i mean S4 looks cool but also why not a S5 if im just going to use traktor amiright? u don't really need jogwheels today to play tunes and adding fx.

Thanks and sorry for my rusty english im not using translation services.
