Cant find plug ins in Ableton Live 9

I have downloaded a number of Native Instrument instruments from the KOMPLETE 14 STANDARD pack, and installed them using Native Access.

After researching how to make the instruments appear in abletons lists of instruments / plugins I am no closer to being able to use them or see them.

All online tutorials suggest if you point to a vst folder location in preferences it should just work, however the folders mentioned are empty. Browsing to the install folder as shown in the Native Access "installed location" link does not show up the plug in's either.

Surely this is simple, but Im at a loss to find out how to do this.

Any help appreciated

    What are the instruments?

Likely you have downloaded and installed KONTAKT instruments which don't appear as separate instruments in a DAW, you have to have Kontakt installed and then they appear as selectable instruments in there.

There are only about 5 plugins that you get in terms of VSTi : Kontakt, Reaktor, Battery, Massive and Super 8

You can use Komplete Kontrol (another plugin) to manage all these instruments along with many 3rd party instruments that you can load into it vioa NKS (check my sig) but within the DAW you only see the mentioned plugins.

Everything else is just expansion instruments for these.

@Rusty Jim More info on your system would be helpful. Mac, PC, OS? What plug-ins are missinbg? Have you enabled vST3 plug-ins in Ableton Live 9? Some of the latest plug-ins like Kontakt 7 are VST3 only on Windows.

    I think VST3 is Live 10+

@PK The DJ You're actually right. My bad. @Rusty Jim Ableton Live 9 only supports VST2.
