Unable to generate stems in Traktor Pro 4

Hello All,

I have followed the instructions in the videos released by Native Instruments with regard to generating stems. I have imported my collection in to the track collection section of Traktor and then clicked "generate stems." The progress bar, for lack of a better word, makes some progress, and after waiting a few minutes, an error message is displayed at the bottom of the screen that says "unable to generate stems" followed by the path of where that track is located within my computer.

has anyone found a solution? or is this likely an issue to be resolved with an update?

thanks for your time.

Perhaps you don't have enough memory. 4GB of RAM is not too much nowadays. Can you take a look at the memory usage when you start creating stems?

I have tried it myself and stems generation succeeded on my computer (32GB RAM - Windows 11) with your track. Most likely a memory issue. I have seen others recommending at least 12 GB RAM as 8 GB might also fail.

@Allan_NI is it possible to, in future version, grey out stems generation if the system is low on memory? Perhaps show a hover message that not enough memory is available to create stems?

When Windows 11 gets the AI Update these features will also set the Windows minimum RAM requirement to 16GB and that's just for the operating system!

All new AI supported functions or programs require a lot of CPU and usually also a lot of GPU as well as a lot of RAM.

With 4GB of RAM you can probably just boot the operating system and run one or two browser tabs before it starts swapping out.

The idea of greying out this feature is actually quite good.

And add the minimum requirement on the website maybe with a second line with the requirements for stems e.g. 12GB and without e.g. 4GB.

    Hello @Allan_NI

I've tried a whole lot of music from my library and stem generation has not worked for any of them. Given the number I've only included one of them. Thanks in advance for your help.

    @Allan_NI

Also, in case it may provide any insight in to what the issue may be, I have included some of my computer specs below:

    Macbook air (early 2015)

    macOS Monterey 12.6.8

    4GB Ram

    1.6 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5

I have no issues while generating a stem from that file.

Have you only imported the track to your Track Collection or already loaded it into a Deck? I had issues with tracks that were never loaded in a track deck before.

The path behind Stem Files Location is writeable with your user permissions?

Thank you everyone I really appreciate your responses and help.

Definitely have been wanting to upgrade my computer anyway so this may be a perfect time to do so. When I generate stems I see the CPU getting maxed out for sure. Being that others on here have been able to create stems without issue with the same track file definitely suggests that it may be my weak old computer haha.

Will get it another go once I upgrade. Looking forward to trying out this great new addition to the Traktor software.
