LineInput Sample Monitor volume low, replays wrong speed and normalize no effect

Hi guys,

I just have the MaschinePlus for one week and updated its OS and its firmware.

Symptom:
connect via Lighting adapter an iPhone6, play sound in iPhone. Opened Sampling. Jacked up the input level in "Channel" to +10dB". Still, monitoring very quiet, nearly not audible. Can record at threshold -55dB (not good …) and waveform looks non-existent. After "NORMALIZE" waveform looks OKish BUT → still not audible replay sound and the sample is somehow stretched and does not play at the right speed.

I am really stumped on this. I can accept a low input volume from a headphone output BUT I cannot except a normalized sample to play at the same low level - is my device faulty?

Thanks guys - if I cannot fix this, MachinePlus needs to go again.

I can explain the first picture.

The input volume is the input to the pad; not to the sampler. In other words, your signal is like:

    1. Phone
    2. Signal splits here
      1. It goes directly into the sampler if you choose the audio input as a source. If you have the source in the sampler set to input 1+2 then you're recording the raw source.
      2. It also goes into the pad where you have the volume jacked up.

You could point the sampler at the pad (i.e. internal) instead of the actual external input. This would let you record after you've increased the input gain. The EQ module has a gain function.

It's difficult to explain; but the input to pads and the input to the sampler are distinct.

There's not enough information to explain why the volume is playing low after normalizing or the speed issue. It looks like you have it loaded on a sampler. Are you playing the pad at full velocity? Maschine is generally going to put the sample on C3. Are you playing C3?

You should be getting something like this (assuming correct cable, correct inputs, max volume on phone):

Thanks for the comments, I will give it a try and check. Definitely not seeing the level on the picture above.
WHen playing the newly recorded sample I simply pressed the newly light pad to hear what I recorded and was astounded that the volume did not go up after normalization. Will report back soon

Hi guys, I tried again and this time is worked great. Weird. But thanks for pointing out the internal routing for "Channel" and for being so quick to respond - very much appreciated.

Now I have a problem with the STEP sequencer always jumping to "SAMPLING" when I hit a pad - but that is another post
