Crackling with Windows 11 and Traktor 3.11.1
Hello
I've just had 3.11.1 installed on my new laptop. It's a reasonably powerful laptop and everything seems to be working quite well except for the following two issues
There is quite an audible crackle whenever any tracks or remix decks are playing. It is not a CPU issue as I can see that the CPU metre is sitting very low, this was not a problem that I encountered very often on my previous laptop. I'm using the NI supplied ASIO driver for S4MK3.
Another issue is that on remix deck D I noticed the BPM fluttering for about a minute before it finally decides to become stable. This is not audible in the sound but on screen I can see that the BPM is varying plus or minus a few beats which is quite distracting.
Does anyone have a fix for these issues?

This is not a NI problem. I don't think they will recommend anything better.
Actually it's a common problem for laptops with dual GPU's. Some sort of power switching between two of the adapters, creates these DPC spikes. If there was only one VGA adapter (Intel or Nvidia only), this will be not the issue. I have an old desktop Ryzen 2700X with a single 3080 RTX and it works perfectly fine. No DPC spikes. But my laptop Ryzen 5800H with a dual GPU (Radeon Graphics + Nvidia 1650) has the same issues with DPC latency. I've even created two BAT files on the desktop to have the ability disable and enable Nvidia GPU as fast as possible. 😏
BTW from my experience, You can lower the DPC spikes by giving at least some work for NVIDIA adapter (run any program and force it to use NVIDIA VGA. OBS studio for example). But it will only LOWER the spikes, but will not fully eliminate the chance to get the crackling. With running app on NVIDIA adapter it will not allow for Nvidia to sleep/wake from power saving and there will be much lower DPC spikes, but like I've said there still will be a big chance to get some random spikes with sound crackling. With a disabled Nvidia adapter, I have literally zero issues with DPC or sound crackling on my laptop.

Try WASAPI exclusive driver for S4MK3 or change Samplerate and Buffersize or Turn off Multi-Core Processing in Traktor when using ASIO driver.

Well, it said in the Windows 11 message box when it crashed that the drive was corrupted (blue death) (almost impossible to use with the tractor program.)
so, and also because of the inertia of the tractor, I used VirtualDJ. Which (Tractor) required an AISO driver (SK2MK3).0 -
Use latencymon to see what's going on regarding services snd drivers

Switching off multiple core processing doesn't eliminate it. I don't have WASAPI exclusive for S4MK3 I only have Shared. I tried WASAPI shared which doesn't remove the crackling.

I used latencymon and it tells me one of the Nvidia drivers is running over 6000.....and that my system is not compatible :-(
Any workarounds welcome. This a brand new laptop so this is a real bummer.

To get WASAPi exclusive driver you need to unistall the ASIO driver.

Use it to install the nVidia driver. see:

It says on that page that it runs on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. Doesn't say anything about Windows 11…..is it safe to use on a Windows 11?

Hey what is the model of your Nvidia graphics card ?
What driver are you on ?
Are you using performance power plan ?
How often does the crackling happens ?

RTX 4060 Ive tried playing with the settings in Geforce control panel not much effect. I'm told I don't have the latest drivers from NVIDIA so will have a look at that and see what happens

Use this to make a clean Uninstall of actual driver :
After that, download and minimum install latest driver for your system here :

Feel free to use the NVCleanstall utility, it's really good, and full free!

I didnt use the NVcleanstall but I did install the latest driver from NVIDIA. The pops and clicks have reduced slightly but definitely still there.....
I've raised a ticket with NI in the meantime...…it shouldn't be this much work this is a reasonably powerful laptop :-/

What is Your specific laptop model? I see it has 4060RTX? I'm making assumption this is the secondary VGA on Your laptop. Disable it in the device manager (there is no need to restart PC, just right click, disable and that's it) and try to use Traktor with integrated VGA adapter only.
