Maschine MIDI Channel Output as VST
Hello, I am using Maschine as a plugin inside of Ableton. I want to control external gear and use the Maschine groups/sounds to send MIDI data. I can go to Sound > Output > MIDI > Dest.=Host and set the Maschine Instance as a MIDI input inside of Ableton and it works fine. However, I now want to play multiple devices by using different MIDI Channels. If I switch the MIDI channel inside of Maschine this has no effect at all. Any idea how I can route the MIDI channel which Maschine sends inside of Ableton?

In fact, this has always been a known problem/feature of Ableton Live, that Live routes all plugin (Midi from) midi data internally to channel 1.
As you have already stated, in your example you could not use Maschine as a sequencer for different instruments on different midi channels, because all outgoing midi data from your Maschine (plugin) was routed to channel 1 in Live.
if I really want to use an external hardware sequencer I use a Maschine plus standalone as midi sequencer or an Elektron DT2 or (insert your favorite hardware sequencer), because the channel 1 limitation does not apply to external midi signals.
There are of course workarounds (MaxforLive or Virtual loopback MIDI software) with which you can redirect the midi data, but they all have more or less their advantages and disadvantages.
you can of course also use Maschine as a controller for Live, that would also be a possibility.
