Maschine+ Brand New User Experience
Not good so far.
Error: The local images path cannot be accessed.
Have no idea what to do.

Give us a bit of back story. What were you doing (or trying to do) prior to seeing this message?
Presumably the message appears on the M+ screen? When does it appear? Does the M+ boot up correctly?
I'll also assume (as you've not detailed) that when you first turned on the unit, you registered, downloaded expansions, updated firmware etc. before getting this message.
Have you perhaps been copying files and folders from your computer directly onto the M+ SD card? Or perhaps moving the SD content around? Renaming things?
Is it a new M+ or used? Are you using the original SD card?

The unit is brand new out of the box. I'm attempting to set it up according to NI videos and instructions. I was initially stuck on the Maschine+ is Starting Up screen. Got passed that and now I'm receiving the aforementioned Error: The local images path cannot be accessed.
I'm using the SD that came with it. The unit arrived today. I managed to update the Firmware in hopes that would help. It did not.
I attempted to get chat help, but no NI agents were available and was told by the chat bot that a ticket was created. Waiting on an email now from NI I suppose.
I recently upgraded to Komplete 14 CE and was inspired to pick up the Maschine+. Did a make the wrong decision?0 -
And no, I have not been able to successfully UPDATE Maschine+ after unboxing. I get to the "You are about to update Maschine+" message, then I hit the UPDATE button, then I receive the error message.

OK so the message appears when you try to update. Maybe try to update without the SD card inserted, or with a different one inserted. See if that helps.
There are no Google results for that message, which tells me it's not common.

Yes. Tried without. Same error. Is there a way to run the initial update through my PC?

I have NI Access on my Win 10 PC and it synced with my Account with software I have from previous purchase of MK3 but I bought Maschine plus for standalone and It was straightforward process with using WIFI and mobile phone for QR scaning. If I was in your situation I would login to my account and as recommend we should be using one account, then I would ask Support, you have that option. I assume that reset will solve your problem but just in case I would ask Support if it's brand new unit. Just be polite and patient because people are trying and they helped me with very complicated situation and from my experience NI support is the best.

UPDATE:
Pedro from the NI Tech Support Team authorized a replacement last Wednesday, June 12th. It's June 17th and I've yet to hear from anyone concerning the return of the defective unit and when a replacement will be shipped.
I've sent two follow up emails politely inquiring if I had missed a step and if there was anything I needed to do to have a unit sent overnight. No response as of today.I ordered the unit May 30th with Express Shipping. I've taken time out of my days to assist Pedro and the NI Tech Support Team with troubling shooting protocols to no avail.
I don't even want a refund. I just want what I paid for at this point.
I'll eat the express shipping cost. Whatever. And so what I purchased Komplete 14 Ultimate CE right before the Summer Sale and missed the bundle price on that and Maschine+… I'm not jaded.
Picked up an M32 and 2x Audio 6 MK2's and a used Maschine Micro MK3. Got a Mac Mini M2 yesterday to run all the fun new stuffs.
If the NI Gods could show some favor on me and expedite my case, I would be most gracious.
