Can not record Native Instruments sounds in Garage Band.

I hooked up my A25 controller to Garage Band. In settings-devices-input devices there is no keyboard selection available. I am up to date with my firmware. I can not record any sounds from Native Instruments in Garage Band. I can use the A25 as a MIDI controller and record with Garage Band instruments only. Any thoughts?

@ccisssnative Have you installed the Komplete Kontrol application? Is everything functional in Komplete Kontrol in standalone? Can you play, load and control sounds?

When in GarageBand, are you able to play, load and control sounds?

I have installed the Komplete Kontrol onto my mac. Everything is not functional. Following the tutorial, I should be able to depress the browser button, rotate the encoder and find Monarch on the screen. I can only see the file types (instruments, loops & one-shots). Depressing presets lets me access additive chord and adrenaline sampler but not monarch. I am plugging the keyboard directly into the mac (USB) so this is considered a stand alone setup? Did I set this up as a stand alone and it should have been setup as a DAW since I’m using garage band? I can play control sounds in garage band but can not record them. I followed the load the plug-in procedure that you sent but when I selected a plug-in in garage band a native instruments list pops up. It looks like a list of preset fields for each parameters. Maybe 40 plus items. I can close that screen, I have to quit garage band to close that screen. I followed the enable full disk access procedure except when I was done and needed to connect the komplete kontrol keyboard to garage band, I realized I hadn't disconnected it. Missed that step. Did I mess things up by leaving the keyboard plugged in during the disk access procedure? I still don’t have a midi controller/keyboard listed on my garage band settings input device. Also, in settings under MIDI controller it list ‘none’. I’m a mess! Appreciate any help you can give.

No worries, leaving the keyboard on is not an issue. Checking in standalone is just standard process for troubleshooting and see if the issue is from the Komplete Kontrol plug-in or GarageBand. It looks like it's more a Komplete Kontrol issue. In Komplete Kontrol in standalone, make sure to check the MIDI prefernces and tick the boxes of the keyboard's MIDI inputs.

I couldn’t follow the example for users groups because my 'users and groups’ screen is different than the example ' Verify if both NIHardwareAgent and NIHostIntegrationAgent are listed in the login items’ I have the latest version of Mac software. I went to Finder and only found the files are in ‘running processes.txt'

I don’t get this screen, below, to connect to garage band.

Click Connect to allow your NI Hardware to communicate with Garage band / Logic Pro.

I went to Native Access to find ‘native access hardware agent' but I don’t see it. Didn’t find Avid CoreAudio.plugin either. The garage band system settings/audioMIDI/input device still doesn't show a keyboard or MIDI device. Also, MIDI controller is ‘none'.

The settings in Komplete Kontrol - preferences - MIDI - input tab lists ‘Komplete Kontrol virtual input and garage band virtual out. Also, the output tab lists 'Komplete Kontrol virtual output and garage band virtual in. Shouldn’t this be all of the in’s on the 'in' tab and vise versa? All 4 have a box checked for each. Shouldn’t I uncheck the garage band in/out as it seems wrong. It won’t let me copy and paste the in's together and the out’s together in the same tab. I just un-checked the garage band boxes but it didn’t make a difference.

Searching for the files referenced in these procedures that i can’t find, all I know how to do is go to Finder search bar and type in the file name I need. So far I haven't had much luck. I can't even find 'macintosh HD' which obviously I have. What should I be doing?

What happens when you click on Connect?

To be sure there's no misunderstanding, opening Komplete Kontrol in standalone means opening the Komplete Kontrol application, found in Applications → Native Instruments, as opposed as Komplete Kontrol as a plug-in in your DAW. We first need to understand if the problem comes from Komplete Kontrol or from GarageBand, this is why we need to check the standalone first.

Please open Komplete Kontrol in standalone, go to MIDI prefernces and take a screenshot of inputs and outputs.

To find Macintosh HD, simply go to Finder and select Computer:

As I said above, I don’t see the ‘connect screen’ to connect it.

Now that I can get to the hard drive, sorry for my ignorance, I can answer more questions. Below is the screen I have for ‘users & groups’. I don’t know how to add the two hardware files for auto startup.

Also, I couldn't find "Avid CoreAudio.plugin” in the HAL folder to update it as requested earlier.
