Komplete Kontrol 2.9.6 and latest Kontakt crashing

Hi, I was hoping to keep my system "frozen" to avoid issues like this, but one of my libraries went missing and I was forced to update Kontakt (as part of a re-installation) and now it seems there is a compatibility issue between the latest version of Kontakt and Komplete Kontrol version 2.9.6 (I cannot update past this version as I am using the mark 1 keyboard). Every track I open that is using KK and a Kontakt library crashes my DAW (Cakewalk). I tried another track I have in Reaper format and it crashes Reaper as well. This is a huge problem, as most of my tracks use KK and at least one instance of Kontakt, and I cannot open any of those projects anymore. Not sure how to roll back to an earlier version of Kontakt that did not crash? Are the installers available somewhere? Thanks.

Always state version you will be surprised what 'latest Kontakt' mean to some people , for a lot of people that just refers to latest update of the version number they are using. But in this case I will go with Kontakt 7

I have download link KONTAKT 7.9.0 (in case of download problem then try log in to Google).

Thanks PoorFellow - I updated via Native Access, so I meant the latest version that NA installs. I will check which version that is and post back here.
