Komplete Kontrol A61 sustain pedal polarity switch

Hi all!

Just got a Kontrol A61, and I love it so far. Except for one thing: every time I restart my computer, the polarity on my sustain pedal for A61 switches! So I have to change polarity under the foot switch every time. It doesn't do this with my Arturia Keystep, for example, so it seems to be a Kontrol problem.

Any ideas?

The KK Software should detect the polarity and adjust accordingly. Have you tried switching the Polarity on the pedal and then restarting? (Meaning set the pedal to the other polarity, do a restart and see if retains that polarity)

@Mikael Lind I see you are on Mac, make sure to give Full Disk Access to Komplete Kontrol: How to Enable Full Disk Access on macOS

No, still doesn't work. Not sure what's wrong, really. I found one other post online about this, yet unanswered as well.

    What sustain pedal is it?

OK, nothing out of the ordinary...can you post a screenshot of the Padal settings in the KK Midi assignment editor? (sure its fine, but worth a look!)

Well all looks normal there, but thinking you could try inverting the “Values” (Off = 127, On = 0)… no clue if that will work… only other option would be to submit a support ticket… (support link above)

Yeah, if I invert the values, the only thing that happens is that the polarities will keep switching, but reversed. Yeah, I think I'll submit a support ticket! Thanks for your help anyways. :)

@Mikael Lind Could you check something? Go to the MIDI editor of the Komplete Kontrol standalone application, and modify a CC on one of the knobs

Close Komplete Kontrol, restart your computer, does the CC you assigned still there or does it revert to the previous assignment ?

It stays the same. But, weird thing, if I only restart the computer, the polarity doesn't switch. If I turn off the computer and turn it on again, it does. Any idea what that means?

I have honestly never seen this. Can you try a couple of things more ?

If you don't connect the keyboard when powering on your computer, does the polarity change as well ?

Can you try with another USB cable, in another USB socket, directly in your computer ?

Would you have the opportunity to test the keyboard on another computer and see if the behaviour is the same ?

Hi again, a follow up, one year later. This problem persists, even with new USB chords and updates. So I connect the pedal to my Arturia Keystep instead, can't be bothered to switch polarity on the pedal every time I power up. No-one else had this polarity issue with Kontrol A61?

I do have the same problem with my Korg sustain pedal as well. In my case, whatever changes I do in the KK standalone app (midi assignment) the polarity is still reverse. This happened after updating to the new KK app update.

Changed for a Yamaha sustain pedal and it works only if plugged in Pedal B.

In pedal A settings, all is reverse what ever I try.
