Updating K5 files for Sonoma/M3 Max MacBook Pro

Hello,

Is there a way to open K5 files in Sonoma on an M3 Max MacBook Pro?

My existing K5 files, both standalone and plugins, won't open in K7 (at least the demo version) or in Cubase (where they are plugins, and briefly open and are usable, then go into unusable Demo mode).

Can I open the K5 files in K6 or K7?

My vintage 2015 computer broke. I am on deadline, and suddenly all of my Kontakt files are not accessible. Any help greatly appreciated!

Hello Annie,

As far as i know, Cubase allows migration from older Kontakt versions to Kontakt 7, but for this automatic migration to happen, you need to remove the Kontakt 5 and Kontakt 6 plugins from your VST and VST3 folders and leave only Kontakt 7.

However, if you only have Kontakt 7 Demo and not the full version, it might not work, i don't know. It should work too, but i can't guarantee it, so i suggest to backup those files in another folder instead of delete them (you can delete them later, if this works)

When I open an old file in Cubase, Kontakt automatically replaces the K5 plugin with K7!

Installing K7 was problematic, but now I know.
