I cannot get Native Access to finish INSTALLING a product.

I bought a new computer yesterday. Had to reinstall NA and my products. I had luck with 5.

Then it just started getting STUCK at installation. The bar thing waving left to right, back and forth. I let it go for 30 minutes and realized nothing was happening. Now it won't install anything. Native Access worked great, now it doesn't.

What happened?

And NOW, I cannot get the NTKDaemon to UNINSTALL from my Programs. It's also stuck there

    Wut???

And NOW, I get this message. I have uninstalled every instance of NKTDaemon I could find.

Why has this issue become a thing? I've run NI for 6 years, never saw this stuff happen.

And so….I uninstalled everything. Had to restart numerous times. Got rid of NA 2.0, and wiped anything "NKTdaemon"

Went to download and install the legacy 1.14 version of NA…..and now IT IS stuck.

I literally bought this computer 15 hours ago. A NEW computer. And I cannot run Native Access on it?

Would maybe have helped just a tad if you had cared to tell what is your OS. But judging from screenshots I will go with Windows.

And NOW, I cannot get the NTKDaemon to UNINSTALL from my Programs. It's also stuck there

    Wut???

The solution to that one (your first hang) would have been to open task manager and close the NTKDaemon process which ought to have let the uninstaller uninstall.

Unless that you are on Windows 7 or have a particular reason for it then using the legacy version of Native Access is not recommended , normally in case of problems then try to revert to an earlier version of N.A. 2 (3.xx) .

Always perform a manually made restore point prior to making any changes to registry . Drive image based system drive backups are also always nice to have from when stuff works.

In case of a predicament as the one you are in now then (short version : ) you need to use Windows task manager to close anything NTKDaemon and Native Access as running process (might also have to stop as Services ?).

That done then remove anything NTKDaemon and Native Access from both drive and registry. Then reboot and check that you no longer have the NTKDaemon and Native Access running if you check in task manager.

Then install latest version of Native Access for your OS (or at least NATIVE ACCESS 3.8.0 ) (unless you are using a legacy OS , Mac 10.15 and earlier / Win 7 downloads)

Long version : To achieve the above then for the registry then run the NI reg tool and remove anything Native Access and NTKDaemon , then use Windows Explorer to search your system drive for all instances of 'Native Access' and 'NTKDaemon' and delete it all .

Instead of the reg tool you can use the 'forced uninstaller' function of the Revo Uninstaller Pro TRIAL to remove respectively Native Access and NTKDaemon .

The above deleting of files from drive should include at least :

Delete the Native Access folder from %AppData%\Native Instruments\

Delete the nativeaccess2 folder from %AppData%

Delete the nativeaccess2-update folder from %localappdata%

Delete the Native Access folder from %ProgramFiles%\Native Instruments\

Delete the NTKDaemon folder from %ProgramFiles%\Native Instruments\

Delete the NTK folder from %ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Native Instruments\

Delete the NativeAccess XML from %ProgramFiles%\Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Center

    Also remove

    Folder C:\Users\Public\Documents\Native Instruments\Native Access\ras3

    Folder C:\Users\Public\Documents\Native Instruments\NTK

Then remove or move content from Download folder related to a stuck/failed download

Then remove file with name related to a stuck/failed download from C:\Users\Public\Documents\Native Instruments\installed_products

If you manually check the drive using Windows explorer and use Revo Pro for registry then you ought to be able to reinstall the N.A.

    Okay, well….thanks for the reply.

I guess I can set aside a couple HOURS to do all that? I dunno. This is insanity if this is the only way to get NA (which I have been using for years) to work. I know you do not work for them, and I know you're trying to help, but this is patently absurd.

This is plain absurdity that anyone is expected to do this. Or else what, not use Native Instruments anymore?

Is it either do all this or I hit the road and never come back?

    What about just manual installs?

Apologies if I seem irritated. I've spent 3-4 hours trying to fix this.

I'm tired, and never in my 15 years of Producing music, have I seen a company take an absolute DUMP with its Installer as I have this one.

Anyway, thanks, I'll try the above methods. I just really mad right now.

Completely understand. I get really annoyed too with this sometimes myself.

With the above guidance it should more be 30 minutes than 3 hours , it's a lot worse if you have no idea and have to start from scratch.

And you are right none of this ought to have been needed but alas it is needed in some situations in between.

Question. Doing the deletion processes you stated above, I cannot delete the folders or files because it says they are "open in another program"

Thing is, I have all instance of Native Access uninstalled. What hidden "program" is running them? Nothing is running in task manager. NA is deleted entirely as far as I know. Where is it hiding?

Side note: I has 41 instances of the NKTdaemon hidden in various places when I searched the C Drive.

How is this level of redundancy even possible?

You are not specific as to what you can not delete but it could be a process. And anyway , if something is running and you can not delete then there ought to be reference to it on the drive and most likely also in the registry.

For getting to stuff you may have to set Windows explorer to show hidden files (and one needs to be very careful not to delete any system files.)

Anyway , if you want to delete something that can not be deleted then start Windows in safe mode and delete from there , you can copy text from here into a simple text file which you ought to be able to open even in safe mode.

Also if you delete something then check also registry. use the above mentioned 'forced uninstaller' function of the Revo Uninstaller Pro TRIAL to remove respectively Native Access and NTKDaemon if necessary .

I you are not very computer savvy then the not skip-able must learn computer skills are file backup of important personal files (including music project files) and the image based system drive backups mentioned earlier.

Always backup your stuff prior to meddling with things if in the least doubt about what you do or it's consequences. Also in general do a back up of your computer every time so much has changed that you do not want to do it all again.

    Thanks

    1. I'm actually pretty computer savvy. I just got this computer yesterday so these are fresh intalls.
    2. I did everything you said about. I got rid of every single instance of "Native Acxess" and "NTKDaemon" from my C Drive
    3. I started the process all over.
    4. I downloaded the NKT Daemon file the NI website gives.
    5. It's stuck in a loop. The pop up screens flashed for a split second. And the "Status" bar fills green really quick, and loops over and over, nonstop.

The process simply won't take. I don't know how to fix this or what this is. I've been at this for 4 hours now.

As I said, it's looping over and over. Nonstop.

And you still did not find it necessary to tell neither what is your actual OS version or the version of the N.A. you are trying to install.

It's entirely impossible for me to have any idea of what the above constitutes.

You could be so 'savvy' that you make choices that you ought not do with respect to configuration and / or settings of different things or use security programs that can block this or that.

What is your actual OS version and version of the N.A. you are trying to install ?

Did you grant sufficient install permissions including running N.A. as an Admin and granting permissions to install elevated when prompted ? If that fails then there is something running that blocks it all.

I don't know if that is do-able but you could try to run the N.A. installer as Admin with Windows in safe mode.
