Maschine 2.18.0 loading a 3rd party VST but not actually doing anything with it

I recompiled the Smartelectronix SupaTrigga plugin from source because the precompiled versions failed utterly and now it loads and runs great in Cubase 13 Pro. But Maschine 2.18.0 (and every version since they moved off 32 bit support) loads it fine but without actually processing sound through it.

Macbook Pro, 2.4 GHz 8-core Intel Core i9 CPU, 32g ram, Sonoma 14.4.1

What am I up against here? Is there a logfile that might have debug output? Any advice is appreciated.
