Is it normal for KK to take 8 minutes to load?
Is there a way to speed-up launch time? This seems rather long!

You can download older versions from here - https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000313457-Komplete-Kontrol-Legacy-Installers-for-Older-Operating-Systems
You only need to be running 3.x if you have a MK3 keyboard.

The first scan can take a LONG time if you have a lot of VSTs on your system. Once it's done that first scan it should be a lot faster.

Have a look also at this thread

I don't believe this 8 minute scan being referred to is the initial installation scan, but rather every time KK is opened. There are very real issues for some people opening NI apps that really need to be sorted out properly by NI.

My startup on Windows is around 2:00 when I've not changed/updated everything. About 15 seconds of that is scanning .DLL files in the VST3 folders which isn't necessary and has been reported a bunch of times. I agree that even two minutes is way too long for an app to start if it doesn't really need to be doing anything apart from checking for changed files which it could do by looking at dates. When I get a minute I'll take a look what it's actually doing for those two minutes!

It's every time KK is launched. This is a major flaw! Anybody found a workaround?

Could it be due to other non- NI instruments causing conflict? Clutching at straws here!

Yeah, to go back to v2.9 since it works.

Well it seems that 1:30 or so is taken up scanning the VST3 folders. Not sure why it takes so long as doing a dir/s *.vst3 from the command prompt takes around 3 seconds. I'll feed it back to the devs again!

How do you access older versions?

Cheers! I'm using an S49 mk2. I'll revert to a previous version. Hopefully that will resolve issue? Tomorrow though. Bedtime for Bonzo!

Think yourself lucky…it can take magnitudes of time longer than that…………………..you could also ask why is it scanning your VST3 folders…………………….

It scans the VST3 folders to see if any VST3 plugins have been added/removed, that's the only way it can do it so I don't have a problem with that. It just needs to be a lot more efficient in the scanning.

Do NI have any intention of improving this?

It used to work like that, as do most other programmes, and that should not take long. This seems to be doing far more, and can't seem to resolve some plugins. Arguably, these things should have been resolved long ago
