Kontakt deleted but still shows as "repair" in NA

I uninstalled my old Kontakt via Windows> Settings> Apps> Installed Apps, but Kontakt now displays in Native Access as needing to be repaired (with orange exclamation point).

Kontakt was deleted; no registry, no vst, etc. But I found a Kontakt folder in Users> Public> Documents> NI Resources> image> kontakt (folder).

So if it was deleted, why is it showing as it needing to be repaired?

Cheers,

Frank

The Tool removed the Bite registration key in the registry, but the software is still within my computer.

Native Access saves information which can make it hard to 'reset' failed downloads. Also remnants of previous download attempts can block ! To 'clean' you will have to both uninstall/remove the app using Windows uninstall (or with library content delete from Content library destination) and then also delete the XML files and maybe RAS3

Try this to see if that helps ! :

Exit Native Access , then uninstall Native Access from your computer !

Then delete anything related to failed downloads from Download folder destination as well as from Content folder destination !

Then follow trouble shooter here : My Products Are Showing As DEMO in Native Access , especially '2. Your activation fails because of corrupted or missing activation tokens' and '3. You have corrupted XML files' (delete both NA XML and offending product XML)

Then (if still there) delete the whole Native Access directory located at : C:\Users\[YOUR User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Native Instruments\Native Access

    Reboot computer

    Then download N.A. from here

Then run the downloaded N.A. installer as an Admin and allow it to do it's setup ! (the above did not include removal of your NTKDaemon which ought not matter in this case)

By now N.A. ought to be started and logged in , but else then run the N.A. app as an Admin and log in.

Check to see if that helped !

To follow up, I did find additional Kontakt-related folders hiding in these locations. Once I moved them to the trash/bin, I re-launched Native Access and the Kontakt "repair" prompt disappeared.

    Users\frank\AppData\Local\Native Instruments\Kontakt

    Users\Public\Documents\NI Resources\image\kontakt

    Users\frank\Documents\Native Instruments\Kontakt (folder)

    Users\Public Documents\Native Instruments\installed_products\Kontakt Application (txt file)

Now I just need to find out why "some" of my updates failed.

I've used the NI Uninstall RegTool so it has worked for me several times in the past.

But after I used the RegTool to remove "Bite," I got "Installation failed."

When I re-launched the RegTool again to run the fix again, the software Bite wasn't listed.

The Tool removed the Bite registration key in the registry, but the software is still within my computer.

Anyway, I submitted a support ticket so I have 16 updates of the 30+ that failed to update.

Why oh why does this still continue to be an issue NI?

    Hi,

I got it sorted without going through all that. 16 of my 30+ updates failed. The 16 that failed still did not update with the NI Uninstall RegTool. I then realized that the popup dialog box is improperly worded.

It states that I "may" want to delete the folders myself when it should state it factually; it should state "Be sure to manually delete the associated content folders from the following directories before running the updates again."

It's not clear at all and maybe it's worded this way because the updates "may" work differently between Windows 10 and 11. I don't know why they used the word "may" when the folders certainly must be removed first.

So after I deleted the folders associated with the failed update, I refreshed Native Access, clicked the "Repair" button, and then I was prompted to reinstall the software.

So far, all of my updates are updating, albeit it's taking a few extra steps to make this happen.

     C'est la vie!

Thank you very much for returning to give feedback !

Well , it appears as if this part of my advice , which were incidentally on top of my list of suggestions ! , were sufficient ! : Then delete anything related to failed downloads from Download folder destination as well as from Content folder destination !

As for the "without going through all that." then the problem for me is two fold : 1) Not all people have their issue fixed as easy as yours ! and following that then 2) For greatest impact then I will have to advice people to reset what I asked in the above to try to make sure that if issue is fixable by my advice then it will be fixed !

So while my advice might look as far too elaborate to you then I have to make a best effort , including when trying to assist you ! 😉

I know the issue is fixed, but for future reference, I'll make a recommendation:

Revo Uninstaller Pro can remove leftover stuff such as icons, folders, and other stray things that a vendor's built-in uninstaller won't delete.

Glad you got your issue fixed!
