N.A. Updates, why do we have to download entire library again
Hi!
Does anyone know why we have to download the entire sample library again when there's a software update in Native Access?
For example, the one in the screenshot below for Session Strings Pro 2. It's software related, but I have to download the entire 37GB library all over again. Same for East Asia and others. It's not at all convenient for those of us on slower internet connections.
Thanks.

So, NA is just showing the size of the library, but it doesn't necessarily download the whole thing again?
That is the theory at least. "Slim Content Tech' has been implemented but I don't know if it is bug free , also I can not tell how large a part of a library is actually being updated which of course also may vary !
In my case, when I click update, it seems to take it sweet time doing anything, so I assumed it was downloading the whole library again. If I click the progress bar, it doesn't show any info it just says something like 'downloading 1GB of 1GB, less then a minute remaining', but it could be like that for ages before it actually installs the update.
Yes , I had the same experience , it do take time even just finding out how much it will actually download. Only way to find out what it will do is to let it continue. But it is important to let it finish once you start. Native Access in my experience is prone to problems when it gets interrupted. If N.A. has been interrupted in it's download (especially if it crash) it could enter a state where it will never finish when you try to continue downloading (again the only sure way of finding out is to give N.A. plenty of time to finish) and if N.A. enters such a download error state then alas the app is too unintelligent to be able to recover from it and it could take a lot of work to try to fix it !

As far as I know then you do not have to download it all again. A short while back then Native Access became able to use 'slim content tech' but that of course also means that you have to be using latest version of Native Access !
What typically happens is that when starting to download then Native Access reports to take very long time and having to download a lot and then it at some point suddenly switch to only take little time and only having to download a little !
Otherwise then if you have any problems with respect to that then you will have to contact N.I. Native Access and Installation Support and ask them !

We're rolling slim content out for expansions. This could display an incorrect need to reinstall the entire product, though we're looking into what else might be causing this visual glitch.
Quote Hayo_NI on October 2023 :
installers are going away in most cases and switching to slim content tech that removes the need for installers. This will also allow you to update products by updating only the files affected. Ergo, we're not investing much more time on enhancing the experience with our existing installers right now, unfortunately.
