Exporting expansion samples into DAW with Komplete Kontrol v3
I found this article on how to bring expansions into the DAW as audio files instead of using them as midi in a sampler like battery 4 (I’m using a current version of pro tools):https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000322025-How-to-Load-the-Contents-of-an-NI-Expansion-in-a-Sequencer-DAW
is there no easier way? I know in version 2 of kk and in YouTube tutorials from the NI channel itself it was as easy as dragging the expansion sample straight into an audio track. Now you have to go through your computer Hardrive, find a sample folder and go through hundreds if not thousands of one shots and loops, clicking on each being the only way to find one??? There has to be an easier way in KK v3. Anyone know pro tools or KK well or know an answer?

Unfortunately there is no other way at the moment.

The only thing that I can think of immediately would be this (if on Windows , don't know if it is the same on Mac OS) :
When you have found the sound that you want in Komplete Kontrol then right click sound and select the 'Show in Explorer' and then drag and drop from the opened 'explorer' (to do that you may have to close KK after having opened the explorer). Annoying 'work around' to have to use but my guess is that i should work (I do not have access to the DAW in question so can not test and I think that I do not have any Sampler in my Ableton Lite)
But otherwise then for now , yes then as you asks in another thread then downgrading maybe is the easiest option...

ok thank you! I am on MAC so I was thinking of something that was the equivalent of what you mentioned.
i was also thinking to moving the entire sample folder to my external SSD that the rest of my library is on, that way I can possibly open them in pro tools workstation (not too sure if this is true, I have not used workstation yet, that is pro tools equivalent of a sample workstation). will relocating the folder mess anything up? Maybe KK couldn’t preview them anymore or something?
and finally if that doesn’t work, I know downgrading sounds silly but that system for a beginner like me might actually work a little better. Is the link mentioned in the other thread safe or is there a more official way to do it?
thanks!

Just make expansion compatible with certain DAWs like Ableton let me download my expansions like Ableton projects or drumkits.

If dragging and dropping samples is your thing - just use something like ADSR Sample Manager and make things super easy.
I added ALL my expansions into this thing - and it can also be used as a VST plugin as well.
No need to really mess around with KK when SM does it all.

@Vocalpoint ooooh this is really helpful thanks!
im new to all these concepts so I am trying to understand, is ADSR more of an “organizer” can you put all your samples in there, say eventually I get something like splice and download samples can they go in there to be used?
another famous sampler I’ve been seeing is Serato sample, is that similar or is that more for chopping?

Exactly. Sample “Manager”. Accent on the word Manager.
All of my sample packs go in here.
Serato does little in terms of management more tightly focused solely on the chopping and mangling side of things.

A lot of people here swear by staying on the version 2.9.6 of Komplete Kontrol so if you want to 'downgrade' then I am sure that there are a lot of people that knows a lot about that too. I don't know what link you were referring to but I will put links here below ! If you downgrade to only KK 2.9.6 then that might influence projects where you used the other version and the same goes for upgrading !
Apparently you can have both co-existing , I have not tried that so all I can do is to place a link for you to check out.
Personally I think that Vocalpoint's ADSR Sample Manager suggestion is the better option and suggestion ! 🙂
How to Keep Komplete Kontrol 2.9 and Komplete Kontrol 3 on Your System

@Vocalpoint is there a correct way to move all the NI expansions over to the ADSR sample manager? Could I simply find the folder in my computer hard drive and drag it in?

Thanks for the links! I may give the sample manager a try first and if that doesn’t work I’ll check out those links!

I would not move anything from an established NI folder - espeically the expansions as that will break everything else.
For Sample Manager - simply point it (Add Folder) to the samples you want as part of it's library.
No moving involved. Just keep doing Add folder and add folders from all over the place to it.

There are tutorials for that Sample Manager app:
Looks like it's just a matter of adding an Expansion folder into it. It will then scan the folder.

Oh I see, so it more about going into sample manager and telling it where to pull from, rather than actually bring things into it. And that works in any DAW?

Those are super helpful thank you!!
