Downgrading Picked Acoustic woes continued- its been 3 months!
Hello,
I was one of those unfortunate people who got caught out and shouldn't have updated some libraries that required a higher version of Kontakt. A simple oversight has cost me literally weeks and weeks of absolute frustration on a level thats beyond describable and anything but simple to fix. Im no computer scientist but Im far from computer illiterate, so this should be so simple.
From December until early this week, its been going back and forth with support, many times with repetitive/automated responses going around in the same circles. There's been long gaps of not hearing back, and some questions ignored. Support has never ever been rude and Ive always remained thankful patient and cordial, though I have expressed my frustration at times with this ridiculous situation.
So as it stands now after multiple (after 12 I've lost count) failed downloads from googledrive, and a number of installs from isos sent (non google) which DIDNT downgrade picked acoustic, support has told me to try another network. There's 2 major problems. I cant download off google and iso's sent another way which I was able to download, install as the new version 1.1.0 NOT 1.0.0. Yes I've followed the uninstall/reboot routine. Taken numerous screenshots of 1.1.0 getting installed from supports 1.0.0 iso from logs etc.
Meanwhile, because I expressed concern at all the write cycles going to the EXT drive I was told using a zip I didn't have to uninstall the content. So I've had to end up going elsewhere to download a zip because the only way to download those is... wait for it.... googledrive.
Now this > Opening the zip just automatically extracts it in place (in my case the download folder). There's nothing to start an install, just the content, so Im confused. When I got K13 UCE I had to go to someone elses place to download a zip for stradivari cello. I cant remember exactly what I did but it just went through the Macs install process and when I went to NA it was authorized. No drama. It was nothing like this. Has NI changed the way they install from a zip or what? Is there something missing in my zip?
Support gave me a help link "Reinstalling a Komplete Bundle Without Re-Downloading Kontakt Libraries" for using zips but unless Im missing something this doesn't fit my situation. Im not re-installing the OS and Im not installing on a new computer. In NA Picked Acoustic is now under the "not installed" section as it should be (I uninstalled it). I set the content location but the version is 1.1.0 (the new version), and I want 1.0.0 --- this is where Im lost - perhaps something in the zip overrides this???
If anyones got any insight to help me off this stupid STUPID absurdly tedious treadmill Id be grateful.
(Mac Ventura) (NA1, K7.4 and no I dont want to update these at this time)

I want to try something, not knowing if it’s gonna work, but feeling like leaving you without anyone trying to help doesn’t make me feel good.
If the zip file (as I understand) extracts the “final” folder of the version that would work with your version of Kontakt (the one with all the library data that would eventually be installed by a “normal” installation through NA), you can try to move this folder at the location where you want the library to finally be.
Once it is there, open NA, find the listed Picked Acoustic and check if in any way (clicking on it, searching for a three dots sign to click on,…) you can have the choice to “Locate”. If you have it, click on it to open the dialogue menu where you will insert the path where the library is to locate it and tell NA where to find it. This should make it know you already have that library installed.
I’m sorry if you already tried anything of this or if you don’t have this possibility.
If nothing similar is available for you, the only other thing I can think of is to install previous version on NA (version 1, the “light” one as opposed to the “dark” one) and try to install the library with this, which used to give a lot less issues (I’m still on NA1 till I can, since version 2 is causing so many different troubles)

Update.
Success - AT LAST. So I moved the Library to the default Shared Folder - I didn't see those 3 dots but clicked the magnifying glass and hit the install button....basically the same as I did before. Checked in Kontakt KK and Logic. Version 1.0.0!
I like to understand what I'm clicking on and why, not just blindly follow. The last chapter in this stupid saga could have been alleviated 100% if support had just explained to me how this particular Zip worked.
Thanks LIF, you gave me that final prod to retrace my steps and hit that install button.

Thankyou for your response @LostInFoundation . Thankyou for trying to help.
As said at the bottom of my post, Im already on NA1 for much of the same reasons as you. Same applies to newer K7.
Reading your post twice made it clearer but Im not sure about those 3 dots and this part "click on it to open the dialogue menu where you will insert the path where the library is to locate it and tell NA where to find it" .. but I'll have a look and see what I can find.
I know my post was probably not very clearly articulated as this ordeal has become more stressful and more complicated and the more I try to get a solution the more brick walls I hit.. Thats the frustration. It should be so simple. If only NI hosted their own older installers, they could've saved not hours but literally weeks of my time and theirs as well, releasing support where it really is needed. This is so senseless..
When I got the zip home I just copied it off to my Download Folder onto the Mac. When I went to install it like I said with the Strad.Cello zip, I expected it to start a process to install or bring up a dialog box to that affect or something. Instead right on the spot it just extracted the library right there where it was. When I opened up NA I hovered next to the install button and it shows a magnifying glass which you click on to set the path. These are the steps I was told to follow from that help file. After that the only choices are to cancel or install. I cancelled out as I didn't understand what it was going to do and the extracted zip was still sitting in my download folder. I asked support what do I do with the zip and havent heard back in 5 days. Its the weekend now so kiss another week goodbye. Depressing.
To try to explain a bit more, the isos support sent me, they repeatedly vowed and declared was 1.0.0 but they repeatedly installed as 1.1.0 - Before doing an iso install I was told I had to do a full uninstall including the content folder (which of course Im doing manually being on NA1). After numerous installs /uninstalls I didn't want to install anything more on my T7 until this gets sorted. There is still the 1.1.0 Library on there from the last install attempt and it can damned well stay there. I'll unhook it and work off the internal drive and if I get success I'll move it later.

@PoorFellow i wouldn’t mark my answer as accepted, since I was suggesting to use the Locate function and this isn’t how the OP solved his problem (which it seems needed the use of the install button)

Anyway , sorry if you are not happy with my action here , I am trying to do my best in the situation (which as I see it is also to mark as an answer if I think so). Unfortunately for you then I do not have unlimited powers so I don't think that I can revert that me only being a Moderator , so you will have to ask an Administrator to undo it !

It can also remain like this if you can’t change it. I don’t think it’s gonna be armful to other users searching for a solution. Simply it’s not exactly the way OP solved his situation
