Is it connected to your computer? Is Maschine running?

Do you have the latest version of the Maschine software (2.17.5) and drivers loaded?

What's showing on the screens? No sound from where?

On the left hand of the screen it says. Please start MASCHINE, CONTROLLER EDITOR or press SHIFT _ CHANNEL for midi mode.

No, the Maschine MK3 is a controller for the Maschine software, it's not a standalone unit. If you want a standalone version you need to look at a Maschine+

Maschine+: Standalone drum machine & sampler for beatmakers (native-instruments.com)

No it's not a standalone unit. That's the Maschine Plus.

Ok I think I no what you both mean now. So I have to download the free MK3 sounds from there web site. I got the impression it was pre loaded with sound and I could use it straight out of the box's. That's not the case, and has it all way's got to be plugged into my computer?

You need to download the Maschine 2 software and the Maschine 2 Factory library. Did you buy the hardware from Native Instruments or was it a used controller?

I got it from Native yesterday, new. I have downloaded what you have said and have now got it up and running with sound. A great machine, but I'm still hoping you can use it without a computer?

You cannot, like everyone already said, the MK3 is a controller, it controls the software on the computer.

The Maschine+ is the only standalone from NI, it has a computer inside so you may use it without being connected to a computer.

Ok, and thanks for all your help. It's an awesome machine and now I'm away from Ableton for a while.
