Hi, I wonder a little bit in NI online shop you can buy some colourful time code vinlys, but for what? Happy Birthday, but there is no actual Audio 8 or 6 DJ driver for MacOS 14. How do all the top DJs work now who like to play records and digital stuff? Do I need to keep my old MacBook just to be able to use Audio 8 DJ? I got in touch with the NI support already, but they have told me it's discontinued. Does anymody know a hack to keep it alive?

Most modern sound interfaces are "class compliant" and just should work™

If you want something modern you can take a look at Reloop Flux.

But Audio 10 and 6 should also work with modern MacBooks. At least according to this list: https://support.native-instruments.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014900358-Compatibility-of-Native-Instruments-Products-on-macOS

But what most DJs do is probably use the soundcard of whatever mixer they are using, if it's digital. Xone 96, Pioneer V10 etc.

I do DVS with my Traktor s4 mk3.

Hi, thanks for the fast reply. Hmm, Reloop Flux for almost 400€ and I need to switch to Serato? I have to say, I’m not so upto date about all the new mixers possibilties. I wonder what's better at Audio 6 and 10… I will check.

No, Traktor does not care from what brand the soundcard is from. You can use the Reloop with Traktor. Like i said: Most modern sound interfaces are "class compliant" and just should work™

Traktor audio 6, or reloop flux or a mixer like xone 96. Traktor only cares it has some output it can send signals to. Or input for DVS.

If you search for "relop flux" on this forum you find a few threads of users reports.

    I wonder what's better at Audio 6 and 10

    Better at? I don't understand.

I recently bought a used Traktor Audio 6 and you could get some in the range of 55 to 100 EUR in Germany.

Just checking what's so cool at the Reloop Flux, no MIDI and only 3 stereo ports, some USB hubs and USB-C I think i will go for a used little Audio 6 – no MIDI less channels. I wonder again, why there is support for Audio 6 and 10, but not 8. As far I remember the only big difference was they have a power plug…

    Danke.

If there other upto date cheaper alternatives (maybe with USB-C) out there, please let me know.

Am very happy with my Focusride usb-c audio interface. They have many options depending on your needs. I used it with Traktor first and it was working well. Am now using the S4 mk3.

So the problem seems to be that USB interfaces for vinyl DJing aren't particularly popular, hence the Reloop Flux being pretty much the only one in production. I suspect because a) DJs are either using a mixer with USB soundcard built in, or b) they already have the soundcard. It's not something you need to replace often, so manufacturers wouldn't sell many.

However, there are two other options I can think of:

Combine a pair of cheap vinyl soundcards such as the Behringer UFO202

or get a regular multi-channel soundcard like the Komplete Audio 6 and use it with either separate phono pre-amps or turntables with their own pre-amp built in.

Support for Audio 8 DJ ceased years ago, especially on macOS. It is the predecessor to the newer Traktor Audio 10. The NI Audio 8 DJ isn't class compliant therefore it needed drivers. NI released last drivers back in 2015 which officially supported MacOS 10.9 to 10.11.x. If I remember correctly these drivers continued to work with at least 10.12 and 10.13 but weren't officially supported anymore.

The newer Traktor Audio 6 and Traktor Audio 10 are using different chipsets and are class compliant. They don't need drivers. Citing Native Instruments they work and are supported on the current version of macOS.

What other DJs are using depends on different DJs. Some are using Standalone-Equipment like Denon Prime Series or a proper Pioneer club setup with CDJs and DJMs. Others use software from a competitor. If they use Traktor Pro they may use just controllers, still own a supported Audio Interface (Traktor Audio 6 or 10, Reloop Flux, Denon DS1) or have a mixer with an integrated interface.

In my case: I own a Xone 96 which has an integrated Audio Interface which is class compliant and works with Traktor Pro - including Scratch control. For mobile usage in locations without proper equipment where I don't want to bring the great setup I own a Traktor Kontrol S4 Mk.3. And if I have to play in a location with turntables and a mixer (but without an interface) I own Denon DS 1 which is also class compliant and works with Traktor Pro - including Scratch control. If I had to replace my DS 1 for some reason I would replace it with a Reloop Flux in these days.

@maniacintosh81 Thanks for the long answer.

Well I have all the NI mixers, Z1,F1,X1, but wanted to continue as well with Traktor Scratch DJ without buying again new (expensive) gear. I also like to use the AUDIO 8 DJ for ripping my vinyls. This works still because i have a few old Macs, but it annoys me I can't use it with my new little MacBook Pro M1. Mhhh, I think I will rather buy an used old MacBook Air or something with Mac OS 10.13, than another Interface for the same price or more;-)

    Some also use Phase DJ.

No need for specific DVS vinyl or needle. But not the best traktor integration.

@lord-carlos Have you tested the "Traktor Audio 6" with MacOS 14?

Regarding to NI support site, there is an info only about MacOS 13

Nope. I don't have mac. I wonder if that is an error. Would be weird if it's no longer supported.
