Is there a way to sequence maschine plus?
I would like to expand the maschine+ sequencing capacities. My first thought, obviously, goes to dedicated hardware sequencers like Hapax, Oxi One, Torso T-1. I have tried none of these, so my first concern is that, in doing so, it would completely by-pass the entire internal song mode... leaving it as just a sound module for the new hardware sequencer / central hub... Or, is that a false assumption? I find very little information in this regard which makes me think this is a dead end.
To be clear, I still want to work inside mas+ and build out my song but have greater control over the sequences themselves - having specific clips or patterns round-tripping and re-sampling from an external sequencer back to mas+ - or just capturing the output to an external recorder. Actually, to be honest - that just sounds like a total buzz-killer - even if I could do that, I'd rather not...
To be clearer... I'm trying to find a way to overcome the limitations of mas+ sequencer. I do understand some of the cool workarounds... but nothing that comes close to the versatility of Hapax or Oxi One - I would buy it straight out, but if it cripples the mas+ I'm not so sure I'm ready for that... I still really dig the maschine song building process.
I'm trying to keep the mas+ in standalone - I find the computer sucks me out of the creative space so... if it's totally impossible, I can't help but wonder if I need to part with the Mas+ for a groovebox without these restrictions... I don't know - just thinking out loud - any suggestions here?

You do not need to bypass anything, you can pick, if it makes sense to use an external sequencer for XYZ then do it, if it makes more sense to use Maschine Song Mode then do that instead but, IMO, if you add a really advanced complex sequencer then it makes more sense to use only that instead and keep M+ can be the sound source, fx box, and you can still use it to trigger samples, play instruments on itself, etc... So the 2 arent mutually exclusive.
I wouldnt go assuming an Hapax or Oxi will fix all your gripes, in the HW world there's now ay of really knowing if a workflow is appropriate for you other than buying and giving it a try, even if you do tons of research.

Explain what restrictions you're talking about so people can give their opinions better.

Thank you for reply... my only real gripe here is that the sequencer in Mas+ is limited to a very basic step sequencer. This wasn't meant to be a rant... more like I'm trying to figure out if I've missed something - or there's something I haven't noticed. An opinion from somebody who, like myself, is migrating towards generative sequencing and also own or have owned a Mas+ would be cool...
Like, here's a workaround that works for me, maybe it will work for you...
Or, I bought a Hapax/OxiOne/Torso T-1 etc and it beautifully complements my Mas+
Or I bought a Hapax and it made the Mas+ obsolete... and heres why...
Or, I got the Torso, sold my Mas+ and now I regret it ... heres why...
Or, vice-versa
You're right though, a ton of research won't really answer a desire to expand one's horizons - I get it, the limitations drive us further on, nothings perfect and everything will sooner or later be trumped - it's all good and like I said, I really dig Maschine's workflow
The research aspect here is to possibly alleviate a purchase that is not right with one that is closer to what I'm looking to achieve
So, euclidean / generative sequencing are a tad closer to removing the rigidness I'm migrating towards. Is that rigidness created by Mas+ - not really, I think NI created a solid product that works well for what it was meant for and it has served me well - but, like I said - if I could keep it and work with say a less pricey alternative then that would also be sweet!

If you look for a less pricey (a LOT LESS) alternative and a way to test out what works with you (Euclidean, generative,…) and you already own an iPad or an iPhone, there’s a ton of very interesting, innovative and even out of this world sequencer apps that can be bought for a couple of bucks on there.
Which will allow you to test/experiment without denying you the possibility to later buy one of your dream HW

I just found out that my employer is giving us ipads for work - so, maybe I can sneak in a few apps and start experimenting - thanks for advice!

@Anthony20h10 How do you record the MIDI output - is there a way to re-route it back into maschine+ ? Sorry if this is a total noob question - still trying to wrap my brain around MIDI.

Why would you want to do that instead of just recording normally?

@D-One - I guess I was thinking that it would be cool to also have the MIDI output to change the source if I wanted to at a later time...
I'm also thinking about the Maschine songwriting workflow with Patterns and Scenes and trying to figure out if theres some way I can sort of roundtrip the MIDI data after being manipulated by an external hardware sequencer and then back into a maschine pattern. I've heard it can be done but don't know if it can be done with Maschine +.
Ultimately, at this point, I think you're right... I'll just have to buy one and see if it works for my own personal use case.

What would also be very cool is taking that MIDI data from Torso T-1 and using it as a lock state in Mas+ - letting the pattern drift off the cliff and then getting yanked back to it's senses. Probably not possible, but it does sound like fun.
