F1 custom mapping - MIDI OUT problems

Hi guys,

Long time Traktor user, and a big fan of custom mappings on my X1 MK2.

I got just right to do everything I wan't from it. and paired with my DJM750, its the perfect setup for me.

I got an F1 a long time ago, and have just used for samples and some fun with the Remix decks.

I've now fideling with using it for tone play. What I do is use it in MIDI mode, and I've one a custom midi mapping to trigger a hotcue on deck B, and chaging its key creating different notes with it.

Everything works OK (apart from the Quantize being limited to 1 beat.. but thats traktor fault).

Now, I'm trying to change the color of the pads with MIDI OUT commands, but its seams thar in MIDI mode, you can't change the color of the normal pads. If you set the command to lear a button, it doesn't respond to the pads. I can do it to all the other buttons, but not the pads.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Controller Editor screenshot? Video of what you already have tried to map?

It is definitely possible to change the pad colors - I use the indexed mode.

It's been so long since I did mapping for the F1. But it has to do with Midi mode vs. User Map. When you look at the preferences for the F1 you will see an option for how the F1 switches when entering midi mode.

I'm sorry I can't remember all the details right now. But one type of mapping doesn't allow any color output. And if I remember right one type uses the names of buttons, faders, etc. that you manually select. Instead of CC midi numbers and using Learn.

Unless you change colors using the separate Controller Editor. That is added to the desktop when installing Traktor.

Something I made a while back. Also MIDI Mode.

Yep this is the difference. You used the Controller Editor for adding color outside of Traktor. Which is fine.

But adding a new User mapping allows colors to be added. The controls are all added from a drop-down list instead of using Learn.

Instead of selecting Generic midi choose the User mapping to make the map and colors all inside Traktor using only Controller Manager.

Then in preferences for the F1 the shift+browse is then set to use User mode instead of Midi mode.

As seen above. The midi messages are no longer CC and channels or use learn. Instead you use your mouse to select the actual control. When using a User Map.

User map is limited to 8 modifiers, that's why I'm never using it. By MIDI mode you can have the "Indexed LED" mode which allows to set each available color by sending specific velocity value to the controller.

I wish X1 MK3 MIDI Mode could do that too^
