MK3: (Shift + ) Record doesn't work anymore

Hello NI community, my Maschine MK3 stopped creating patterns. Usually, when I tap Shift + Record, I get a few bars prep time and then the pattern is recorded. I haven't made any software updates nor changed anything and suddenly, I the pattern won't be recorded.

I tried re-installing Maschine 2 but it didn't work. What do you suggest?

I don't see how audio settings can have anything to do with this unless you have the wrong audio interface selected, but in that case would not be able to hear anything.

@D-One Playback does not work at all, the button also doesn't light up when I press it . I loaded couple old projects and couldn't play any of them. If I initiate recording with the keyboard combination, it starts recording (and the button turns red) but nothing else happens. So weird. The Shift button otherwise works normal (e.g. the Pad1 undoes the action and such).

What the heck? The only explanation I can imagine is you accidentally enabled Sync in Receive Clock mode, this makes Maschine wait for an external signal to start playback, if that is the case then disable it.

Do you use Maschine inside the DAW?

If you do, maybe you should change the audio engine because the engine might be the reason for recording problem.

For Windows, play around with these audio engines(MME, Wasapi Shared, Wasapi Exclusive, ASIO)

For Mac (since it has only one audio engine) try to change the settings a little bit inside the audio engine.

Need more detail. Does the rec button turn red? Is the pre-record count-in happening? Can you hear the metronome? Ideas View or Arranger?

Thanks @Milos, I use Maschine MK3 with the Maschine 2 software. No other external DAW. I use a 2016 Macbook Pro. Do you have any recommendations on how I could access the audio engine settings? I checked online and couldn't find any resource I can comprehend.

Thanks @D-One. The rec button turns read, but literally nothing else happens. Pre-record count in doesn't happen, can't hear the metronome. This is all in Ideas view. Happy to provide you with some more details you might need.

Maybe you should just go to the settings or options inside Maschine then go to the Audio.

Hum... Does playback work at all? When you simply press "Play" ?

Do other controller Shift combos work? If you press Shift+Pad1 does it undo an action for example? (To establish if you shift might be broken)

On your computer keyboard press Command+Shift+Space, this is the shortcut for count in record, check if that works.

@Milos I couldn't find anything wrong in the audio settings. I can actually hear the presets in the Browser section, e.g. before I load them to one of the Groups.

It feels like a weird error with the software to me, have been a regular user for the last three years and never had this happen. I had very recently started using a pedal to help me initiate the recording while I'm playing on the violin and it was working perfectly until recently. Now, all the additional stuff are plugged out, yet there's this issue. Wonder if they might be somehow related? Any further suggestions?

So now, when I'm working with the pedal, should I toggle this preference when I'm switching between using the pedal and not? What's the best workflow for this?

I'm using a Boss FS-6 dual switch.

No problem. AFAIK that's a simple switch pedal, it doesn't need Sync, just use it normally you don't need to change anything.
