Live performance loop mk2 s88

Hi currently I’m working on a loop performance with the boss rc600.

allt the instruments I’m using are plugged into the rc600 except for the keys (mk2 s88).

how do I organise the mk2 to sync with the rc600? The host I’m using is Cubase 10 pro.

maybe I’ve some further knowledge gabs and someone can refer to a video or tutorial to set up for loop live performance. Thanks a lot

What are you trying to sync exactly? You can send MIDI clock from the RC to Cubase so any instruments and effects loaded in Cubase can sync to the correct BPM. That's set in the MIDI settings of the RC. Pretty sure you can send control messages like Start from the RC to Cubase as well but I've not actually tried doing that. Either way it's not really syncing the keyboard, it's syncing Cubase. If that's not what you're looking for can you explain a bit more?

    Hello,

so you have cubase master connected to the looper and you want now to output Komplete kontrol stuff to the looper? You can send midi clock from cubes to the looper and sync them that way if the looper has midi over USB it should be pretty easy. In that dialogue there should be now also a sources tab so you could sync it the other way around if you want to.

Ok, let me try to explain my expectations. Hope it will be understandable 😅

for an instance, I record one loop-unit with the guitar, than bass, than drum. Different in measure and length, but they will match again. Let’s say unit1 is 4 measures and unit2 6 measures, after 12 measures they will meet and start from the beginning. That works fine inside rc600.

the rc600 will automatically calculate tempo by its input given by the guitar I played, or any other instruments.

so but for synth and keys I don’t know how to loop and how to sync the tempo calculated by the rc600.

so when I activate loop on the mk2, the mk2 tells Cubase to loop. in this particular case Cubase jumps back, restart the loop-unit and overwrite the other tracks.

I hope u see my struggle here 🙈😅

So you've already set cubase as master clock? Then try it the other way around. Or even without sync, if you don't use arpeggiated instruments or synced FX in cubase you don't need them to be in sync. And the looper will do it's thing as you described.

Thanks for your response Uwe. The thing with the clock has its pitfalls, cause there will be different songs.

one time I will start with synth and the other time with instruments. So mk2 or rc600.

cubase is just recording and has no effect to quantize and time or anything else. Basically it’s actually only the host and supplies the mk2 with sounds.

correctly, I won’t use arpeggiater, or drum machine.

But if you use cubase without sync, and record it into the rc600 isn't it the same as with a guitar or like a stand alone keyboard. Maybe I understand you somehow wrong. You could even use komplete kontrol stand alone if you don't need the cubase FX and stuff.

Sorry for the late response, we had power supply issues due to weather. Tons of snow.

aaaahm, I send u a link of an artist and that’s exactly what I want. Maybe I just explain it to complicated 😂

(Here would be the link, the rules say I can’t post it) on YouTube look for tash sultana live daisies 2019

u don’t have to watch the entire concert, but the set up is clear at the beginning. (better than my description)

I know artists with loopers, but like I said, just think of the keyboard as an instrument that you record as audio in the looper, like your guitar, and as far as I can see, all those artists do the same.

At first I thought you record midi in cubase and audio in the looper, but then you described the problem with the different different bar counts. So just use the looper and audio in the looper.
