KK S61 to Roland SH-4D
Sorry in advance if this question drags on. Just purchased a Roland sh4d and trying to use my s61 with the Roland through a midi out from s61 to midi in on Roland cable. Are there specific settings I need to change in my Logic Pro X midi preferences and my Roland system settings to make them work together? I also read somewhere that I need to power my s61 through power cable as opposed to through usb to make this work. Please help. Thanks in advance

You just connect the sh4d like shown here, and then it should work.

thanks that was great information but once I was trying to choose the midi destination my Roland sh4d was not one of the choices.

I also emailed Roland and this is what they had to say.
Thank you for contacting Roland Product Support.
The SH-4d has a separate MIDI channel for each of the "parts".
Since the SH-4d is layering 4 different sounds plus a rhythm track together there isn't a singular MIDI channel.
You would want to make sure that your MIDI controller is set to the same MIDI channel as the part that you are wanting to control.

Have you tried to do that.

Thanks. Appreciate your help. I did and it worked but prior to that I had to reroute my sh4d through the audio interface( it’s always something simple). Then I created an external track just as in the video. I was then able to hear and play both my kk s61 and Roland at the same time in Logic Pro X. Unfortunately I was only able to record sounds from the kk61 once I pressed the record button. Once again it’s something simple. Thanks a million. Temra
