Replace D2 with X1. Worth it? Or wait
Hey all! Im currently on Traktor D2 controllers and I love everything about having screens that I can use to browse my library in addition to everything else. I like to play without a laptop in between me and the crowd and I usually throw the laptop closed underneath the table.
But since these controllers are aging I am low key checking out alternatives. The new X1 would be a good candidate but I ran into 3 issues/dealbreakers with this and I cannot verify this. Can you help me out?
1) Obviously the screens: I didnt notice any track names appearing on the screens when browsing the library. Will it be possible in the future to see folder and file names when browsing? Or even more functionality with playlist sorting or time/bpm/key info?
2) bpm adjustment. I noticed the increment in the NI youtube video to be like 1% or 0.13 bpm or more coarse. On my D2s the standard is 0.01 bpm or the coarse 1bpm. can the X1s be just as precise?
3) The lights turn red when a track is out of phase, but im kinda missing a proper phase meter. The lights are also not that visible when the controller is built in between other gear on the booth in between a mixer and turntable. Something like the old lights near the touchstrip on the Mk2 and D2 that can help me nudge my way through keeping 4 tracks in sync in a busy club. Maybe this can be added to the screen aswell.
Hope you can shine some light on this. I love the modularity and sound quality of Traktor and hope to be able to keep a modular controller based workflow without the need to look at laptop screens while playing.

That would need an extensive qml mod, but with the low resolution this is not really something truly useful. The screens on the D2 are much better.

I already made a small qml mod for that (link in my signature). I am surprised that NI didn't implement it.

It can be added to the screen with a qml mod (another project i might try). Again, i wonder why NI didn't implement it.
Use the D2 as long as it is viable. I will, and if a future version of Traktor will not support the D2 any more i will stay on a version that does.

I don't think x1 is a fit for you. I would wait.
Or go standalone. Denon has quite a few units in different price categories.
