Random midi dropout when playing Battery 4 via Cubase 12

edited October 2024 in Battery 4

I created a 4 bar rhythmic loop on repeat in cubase 12 triggering 8 different pads form the Afro Shop Kit in Battery 4. The first time through it plays ok but after that some instances of pads don’t sound. When I watch their envelope they aren’t triggered. Midi notes do coincide. Almost sounds like a polyphony issue but the Battery polyphony seems to be 32. Can anyone explain this please.

Many thanks Simon

You should just normaly merge the midi tracks, not to merge them in a loop.

    Try that.

I did manually create the loop. I had it on loop record and kept adding sounds using a midi controller. Initially i failed to have merge in loop selected and each loop was on a different cubase lane ( in a single track) so I combined these 'takes' using midi/merge in loop. Looking at the loop it l;ooks fine. I mute the original lanes so not to duplicate notes.

    Well, is the issue solved?

Sorry Milos I wasn't clear. I was saying that I manually created the loop in the first place so your suggestion to manually create it wasn't relevent if I understood you correctly

    Oh...

    Hmm...

Maybe you can merge the tracks inside the DAW thqt contain separate loops.

    Try it, it might work.

Hi Milos, i had already done this to an extent and discovered that when you use cubase's 'merge midi in loop' it keeps the original and overlays the new merged part. I had merged a few track lanes in this way and somehow managed to have about 3 or 4 layers of midi notes superimposed with many of the notes in time and value. When I kept the correct merged loop it didn't seem to drop and midi notes. I really appreciated your trying to help but it was my own lack og knowledge of Cubase merge midi in look facility to blame!
