Kontakt 7 on Mac OS 14.1.1, M3

Hi,

I think Kontakt 7 displays the wrong top menu on Sonoma Mac OS 14.1.1, for example clicking the logo doesn't show the version, but does the same as clicking on Library - switching between rack and browser views. Spent a few hours trying to work out if I was using Full or Player versions and couldn't access that info....

@reffahcs @stephenrandall I guess you were using an older version than 7.6 before updating to 7'7. There were 2 successive changes, you can see that in Native Access' changelog:

7.6: IMPROVED Loading an Instrument from full-screen browser now replaces the focused Instrument instead of adding it to the rack

7.7: IMPROVED Double-clicking a preset in Files tab, Libraries tab or Quick-Load will now replace the preset loaded in the currently selected slot, instead of adding it to the Rack

So the only way to load an additional instrument in a multi rack is either to drag and drop an instrument beneath the existing one when in rack view or click in a new slot when in rack view, open the library view, click on preset.

Perhaps we should make that clearer in our Knowledge Base, it should be done soon.

To make things clearer, we edited this article: Kontakt 7.7 - User Interface Changes

And created this one: How to Create a Multi Instrument in Kontakt 7.7 (and higher)

@stephenrandall The orange line is showing which instrument is in focus on the new Kontrol MK3 keyboards, since it is now directly controlling Kontakt. For users without these keyboards, this orange line has no real function.

@stephenrandall What version of Kontakt are you using? There were some changes in version 7.7: Kontakt 7.7 - User Interface Changes

If that deosn't address the issue, please post some screenshots.

Hi @Jeremy_NI I'm using Kontakt version 7.7. Thanks for posting that link, as that confirms the different UX.

However, I am seeing some weird behavior - for example, I can't now load multiple libraries. If I try to load a second library, it replaces the first, which is not what used to happen. Is there a different workflow for that?

Oh that's weird, ok... this is definitely a bug. I'm on MacOS 14.1.1 with the latest NI updates for everything. And I can reproduce this bug 100%. @Jeremy_NI

    Steps to reproduce:

    Open Kontakt

Double click on any instrument to load it

You can adjust the knobs with the mouse or your NI instrument of choice, but if you double click on another instrument like @stephenrandall said, it replaces your existing instrument

However, if you first click in the dead space underneath the instrument... this area here

Then double click on an another instrument, it will appear below as it did before

    Cheers

I'm on 7.7.0 right now, every update available from NA is installed. I feel like we might be saying the same thing in different ways, but I made a screen recording that will hopefully clear up any confusion.

Yes it does show recommendations for new instruments if you use Library view, which I don't ever use so it's a non issue. However it's easy enough to click the down arrow to make the "New Instruments for you" go away.

Thanks all for clearing that up!

FInal (maybe) dumb question, but also new to this version is the orange vertical line to the left of the loaded library, which I assumed means that that library is in focus. But when there are multiple libraries loaded, the orange line is still always on one library, even if multiple libraries are being triggered, so does that simple denote the library that can be edited?
