Should a Maschine unit light up when plugged in to a laptop???

    Hello,

    yes, if it´s powered you should see a short sequence of lights going on. But maybe it gets not enough power, try to use another cable and no hubs for example.

    Ah, depends what Maschine version. MK3 I believe is USB powered but Maschine Studio for instance, you need a power supply, USB alone won’t power it so confirm what version you have and if it needs the power supply.

    Yes it only has usb

    Just not sure if they usually power up straight away?

    Yes, it should light up, at least a short wave of colours. Try these out:
