What power supply do I need for the z1? Tried the one from my s4mk3 but doesn’t work.

I thought the Z1 was "USB Bus Powered" as seen HERE.

It is bus powered. But if you want to use it with Traktor DJ 2 on an iPad with lightning connector (which still allows to use it also as an audio interface) you need to plug it with power supply, since lightning is not sending out enough power. Unluckily with newer iPads with usb c the audio interface part isn’t working in any case.
All of this of course talking about the first model of Z1, since the new model doesn’t even have a power supply connector.
If I recall correctly, it needs a 15V power supply
Yes confirmed: the power supply (out of stock since years) that they advertise on NI site and it’s suggested compatible with Z1 is 15V, 1,2A, 18W

Thanks, it is 15v, but so is my s4mk3 and that power pack doesn’t work. So must be something different.

I added some info to previous post
15V, 1.2A, 18W.
S4 MK3 is 40W. I wouldn’t try it anymore, if you don’t want to fry your unit ☺️

More Amp / Watt does not matter. As long as polarity and voltage is the same. It just means the power unit can deliver more, if the device needs it.
I'm surprised it does not work, maybe something else is the problem? Does the z1 work on a normal computer?

yes, it works fine usb from laptop.

What you write is correct. But as a rule I always tried not to plug anything that has different specifics than what was designed for the electric device. And I had never had a single problem. While many of my friends ended up crying for a fried device, saying “But the volts are the same and Watts should not matter”…
My motto: better be safe with a working device than be correct with a fried one ☺️

I'm home now.
I have an z1, but sadly not the original power supply. I can't check the polarity. If anyone has the original z1 power supply and can share a picture I can test it.
There should be a symbol like this on it.
Btw, a 15v 2.6A PSU is in spec of a 15v 1.2A unit :)

I don’t know if I’ll be able to find the original one, but if you want I can test one working and show you the infos you are asking

The power supply is universal across all NI hardware, never had any issues with that.
Get the replacement from NI if in stock now or look for original 2nd hend unit. Otherwise the 40W is needed for those controllers with screens.
