I own Maschine Mk2 hardware/software. If I buy mk3 hardware, do I need a new license?

I own Maschine Mk2 hardware/software. I want to use the most updated version of Maschine, but if I understand correctly, I'm limited by the hardware, which is only compatible with software version 2.17.4 as of today.

If I buy the Mk3 hardware used without a license, will my 2.x software license allow me to use the most current software (2.8?) with the Mk3 hardware? Or do I need to purchase a separate license?

Thanks!

Your MK2 license will allow you to use the most current version of Maschine with the MK3, however, it's the same version of Maschine MK2 (2.17.4).

    There is no 2.8 (yet).

I can confirm this. I am a long time Maschine Studio user (2014). I just bought a used MK3 and it worked seamlessly. I didn't have to do anything but plug it in.

Sam Ash send me the license codes and everything but it wasn't even necessary. I just plugged and played, lol.
