How To Route Audio from Audio Interface Into Maschine Line Input for Sampling?

I have a Clarett 2Pre audio interface connected to my Macbook. There are 4 outputs. I am trying to test my setup to see if I can get audio which would normally come through my monitors to show up in Maschine so that I can sample various things on the internet. I am running one of the interface's main output lines into Input 1 on Maschine. The input source is set to "Ext. Mono" and the input is set to "In 1 L". The recording mode is set to "Detect". There is no audio being detected despite one of the main monitor lines feeding directly into Maschine. What am I missing?
Here are some screenshots of my current setup:

Basically you need audio Loop Back.
Some Focusrite interfaces have it and some do not, I think they save this feature for interfaces with more than 2 INS (more expensive) but you can try following this guide.
If that doesn't work then your only option is to do it thru software, theres easy solutions like Rogue Amoeba's LoopBack but it's rather expensive, for free theres alternatives such as BlackHole, probably others too.
No. Theres "Aggregate Audio" devices and "Multi Output" devices, both are designed to merge audio interfaces.

The main mistake here is that if you want Maschine software to receive audio from one of Maschine hardware physical inputs, the audio interface chosen must be the Maschine hw one.
Chosing the clarett it will receive audio from the clarett’ s inputs. Therefore if you want audio to come in Maschine software, the cable must go into one of those inputs (creating an internal signal loop)

Isn't there any virtual audio routing software for MAC which will allow you to grab the computer's monitoring output and route it to an input? There's stuff like that for windows (or with some RME interfaces it's even built in). That way your audio wouldn't have to pass the converters twice before sampling

So I ran one of the main outputs into Maschine’s inputs and switches the device to Maschine, but still no audio is being detected. What am I doing wrong?

Did you chose the right inputs in the sampler? Probably they will be External - Maschine in 1 (if you set this up similarly as in the screenshots above)

I set the device to "MK3". Input source is "ext. mono" and input is "In 1 L". No audio for some reason.

Is Maschine In 1 L the one where you selected the input in Preferences - Audio?
Are the meters not moving at all or they are moving but you don’t hear the audio? (In this case you simply have to turn on monitoring)

Here's how everything is routed right now. You can see in the last screenshot that there is an audio signal, but the meters are not picking it up in Maschine even though monitoring is set to "On".

@LostInFoundation any other ideas here? I'm completely at a loss.

I know it could sound very trivial, but…are you sure the gain knob on the back of your MK3 isn’t at 0? Many users get confused and don’t check it cause it’s called MIC IN GAIN, but it serves also the line ins

@D-One Actually I meant what you are talking about. Before I had my RME UCX II (which I highly recommend for a long list of reasons) I had to plug two cables from my Behringer Outs into its Ins and I always regretted the double conversion.
ReaRoute might be another option, though I don't know if it can grab computer audio on a mac

Thanks everyone. I just said “forget it” and routed the interface outputs back into the interface inputs.

Actually I’m going to look at this later today. That might be a thing.

If you do so remember to keep monitoring off, otherwise you could have an audio feedback problem
